Flight change on day of embarkation?

Just received an email from Westjet that our flight will now be arriving in Miami at 100pm instead of 1100am. I was a bit leary about flying in the same day but now I am really having second thoughts. Would 3hrs be enough to clear customs, gather luggage, jump in a cab and make it for boarding? There is a flight into FLL that arrives at 1108am, would this be a better option?

Personally, I'd take the flight into FLL. You're saving time going through immigration in Canada and FLL is a smaller airport so you should be able to get out of there pretty quickly.

1 pm is wsy too late, you’ll be stressed. I’d take the FLL flight. It is about 45 minutes from FLL to port, an easy Uber ride. We’ve done the fly in day of, much prefer now to go the day before, less stress and rushing. When flying day of, you are up really early and just want to crash that first night on the ship. Vs day before you are well rested and ready to party all night 😂

I think there have been enough threads about this issue that the point is being missed. I get if the OP has an issue that prevents them from coming in the night before. Might be cost, schedule, whatever. But this is living on the edge, methinks. Unless you've got a better crystal ball than Madame Leota, you can't predict what will REALLY happen that day. It may be pessimistic, but think of ALL the things that can go wrong even before you get on the plane. For the amount of money you're spending, it behooves you to plan by thinking that way.

Yes, 5 hours is probably enough time gap. If EVERYTHING goes right. Does that happen for you mostly?

I would call the airline and ask to be changed to another flight, preferably the day before. While things could work out perfectly for you with a 1:00 arrival time, personally I would not chance that.

Changed it to FLL for free, same morning getting in at 11am instead of 1pm, will need a bit of extra time to get to the port but the extra fare is worth the extra time.

I think it’s a personal opinion on how much risk and anxiety you are comfortable with. Me personally, I would 100% change to an earlier flight. And if at all possible, change to the evening prior. My husband travels all the time for work and the number of flights that delay/cancel/change/etc on him are enough that I would never chance it. But that’s just me and I don’t like any amount of anxiety.

The smallest delay anywhere.......and you miss your cruise. Totally not worth it. If it were me, I would fly in the night before, even if it is really late. I wouldn't even like an 11:00 am landing the day of the cruise.

I have been stuck in airports way to many time because of delays...to EVER fly in the same day! We always book a room and stay the night before. With that being said....a 1PM arrival time would literally give me a stroke with anxiety. To many variables, weather, baggage time, Miami is a huge airport, getting transportation, Miami Traffic....Ugh.. NO WAY! These cruises cost too much to take the chance over a ~$200 hotel room.
