Our flight leaves NY at 3:30PM and will arrive in MCO at 6:30PM.

What would you do for dinner?

Originally I was thinking of buying a pizza at the MCO airport and eating it on the DME, but I worry the smell will disturb the other passengers on the DME.

I don't want to eat at the airport and have an extra long wait for the next DME.

Plan A is to make pizza and bring cold pizza on the plane to eat, hoping that fills us up enough to get us to the resort with adequate snacks on hand.
Plan B is to use snacks to tide us over on the plane and grab and go at MCO. What restaurants are at MCO?

WWYD?

We are in a similar situation and I hadn't given it too much thought (we usually fly international and get fed enough on the plane). We leave Upstate NY at 4pm and arrive at 7. Factor in another 1-1.5 hours till we are at the resort on DME.

Option 1. Bring food on the plane (I like the cold pizza idea)
Option 2. Eat a decent sized meal on the way to the airport and bring lots of snacks on board. (We have a 3 hour drive to the airport... so if we eat 'lunch' at 2pm right before we get to the airport we can do heavy snacks on the plane and eat at the resort)
Option 3. Eat in the airport after arriving and catch a later bus (this could be a good option for us if the kids don't eat enough on the plane and need food fast!)

I would just eat at your home airport (either something you bring or something you buy there) and just bring a snack on the plane if you think there will be hunger issues. You will get to your resort no later than 8pm...plenty of time to grab something there.

Or, grab something at MCO. It won't add much time, and DME continually runs so it's not like you are going to be missing a bus.

not sure if you will be allowed to eat on DME. plus other people might complain about allegries bothering them and the mess for driver to cleanup before heading back to get next group

I know for us our plane leave at 11 am and we have a layover for 2 hrs. we will eat lunch at the airport and then when we land in Orlando at 6 we plan on going to the hotel to eat in the food court after check in. Airport food... not cheap. I would take some snacks on the plane to tide the kiddos over.

I'd eat "linner" at your home airport and bring snacks for the plane (or shortly thereafter - in the airport waiting). Then when you reach your resort, get pizza or something else there.

MCO has a food court and a Chilis and a few other things - but your kids are going to be anxious to get to "Disney" and I don't find food convenient on my way out of the airport.

You cannot eat on the DME bus.

Why not just bring sandwiches or something to eat on the plane?

I'd bring snacks on the plane and then eat dinner when you get to your resort. Worse comes to worse and your kids can't wait feed them when you get off the plane at MCO.

We usually bring bagels on the plane. No smell and solid enough to hold you over until you get to the hotel (and no need to refrigerate). We also bring some granola bars in case we get delayed and need a small snack to keep us over until we get to the hotel.

No food on the bus, but plenty of time to eat on the plane. Meal times go out the window when we travel. Depending on the drive distance to the airport, either eat lunch at home before you leave, on the way to the airport, or after you go through security (my choice). Pack heavy snacks for the plane. Anything not a liquid is fine: cheese sticks, crackers, fresh fruit, peperoni, bagels, sandwiches etc. A few fun treats are good too. You should be at the resort about 8ish and can get room service, order a pizza or grab something from the food court.

We take lunchables with us when we fly around lunch time to tide us over until we get there and then eat a late lunch (or in your case late dinner).

Food is not allowed on the DME buses. I'd either pack something to eat on the airplane, or eat in the airport before heading to the bus. Or you could wait until you get to your resort and find something there.

We usually grab Chik Fil A in the airport because we don't have it at home so it's a treat for us. Like someone said the buses run continually so if you chose to take 15-20min to eat you're not missing anything.

We have the same flight times and have been giving some thought to food. By the time we get to the resort, it will be kind of late for dinner.

I think we are just going to grab Chick Fil A at the airport and bring it on the ME bus. We are on JetBlue and they provide snacks but I may still bring an extra snack for DD.

Good to know...we were planning to eat on the bus.

I'm glad you saw this then.:) I now have a picture of a family standing outside, trying to scarf down their food before getting on the bus, and it isn't pretty.:upsidedow Can you say indigestion???

As an FYI the Disney park buses do not allow you to eat while riding on them either. You can get away with a cup or a bottle with a lid, but that is all.

I would probably eat a bigger, later lunch at the airport when we got there before the flight and eat snacks or sandwiches on the plane if the kids to hungry again.

I can't imagine trying to eat pizza on a bus. I don't really understand the problem:confused3. Bring some snacks on the plane to hold everyone until you get to your resort.

Well, I have a belly that gets angry when it's hungry, and I have one kid with my metabolism, LOL. The other one is like her father, can forget to eat, or doesn't get irrational when hungry. ;)

The problem, I suppose, in addition to ensuring I am adequately fed is all information I didn't bother to bog down the thread with. The kids will be in school all day, and, instead of them coming home on the bus, we will pick them up at school, scoop them off to the airport and surprise them with a trip to Disney! So, they can't very well be prepared with a big lunch. Of course I'll pack snacks, of course we can eat here, there or everywhere. I was just trying to sort out the logistics of it, and thankfully many people posted some great info that I didn't know.

I didn't know food could not be consumed on any Disney bus.
I didn't know the buses run continuously.
I didn't know what other people did in the same boat.

So, thank you everyone for your awesome info! It really helped me plan.
