Flex ticket question

We are leaving from Ma in a few hours for our first trip to Universal. I pre-ordered my 5 day Flex tickets and was just looking at them. I am assuming they become active the first day I use them, not the day I purchased them. Do I present the flex ticket at the gate? Or do I have to go to the ticket counter first? Do I sign them before I present them or as I present them? They give you such a tiny space to put your name. Also DD has a cast on right arm- her signature will be illegible.

One last ? We will probably go to the parks Saturday, at least for a few hours. Which is the better choice for a Saturday, first day?
TIA.

Just go through the turnstiles, and they will be active then. (Is it still one week from first use?)

Don't worry about the kids signature, you can sign it for them. At least they allowed that a few years ago, when I was in the same situation.

Don't bother going to guest services, you will be wasting park time. The turstile employees know these tickets. Dont' sign them until they tell you to.

Thanks so much- I was going to sign them early. Will wait and do it at the gates. Oh, and I meant 14 days flex ticket- though we won't be there that long.
