I have a new Schott-Ceran flat top stove and I'm having trouble using my pots and pans. They seem to be flat on the bottom, so they should make good contact with the heat surface, but once the pot is heated it becomes misshapen and wobbles no longer making good contact with the heat surface. This just happpened to my large soup pot as I was making chicken soup.

So is there a certain brand of pots and pans I should go buy that will stay flat when heated?

We purchased a Kitchenaid version of the ceramic top stove. I found that some pans that I may have heated to too high of a temperature must have warped, even a small amount. My brand of cookware is cooks essentials from QVC. I do have a Calphalon griddle as well, but prefer the convenience of dishwasher safe cleaning. QVC has a line of CE they call stainless 500. I recently purchased a piece of that and it looks nice as well as being able to go into the oven under the broiler and up to 500 degrees. If you're not familar with QVC, they have a 30 day no questions asked return policy.

LOVE my flat top stove -
I just got a new set (the old set was Farberware and OK - but seemed to heat in rings if you know what I mean)
and I got it at Filenes - it is Maitre Chef - made of steel and it was cheap ( I want to buy all new good when we move into our new house - but I NEEDED a new set for the time being)
But it works AWESOME on the stove - I didn't realize how bad the other stuff was til now
I like the Papmpered Chef stuff too - I have the HUGE skillet pan and it works great!
If you have a party you can get the whole set 50% off too

I have a flat stove- The Gemini with the two ovens- and I use my cheap line of Calphalon from Target. They are non stick and frankly I have been putting them in the dishwasher for 6 years no problems! Check out Target- the line Calphalon makes for them is very nice!

I second the Pampered Chef cookware. I love my ceramic top stove.....but, was disappointed at first, that is until I got my Pampered Chef Prof. Cookware! I too got mine 50% off for hosting a show, well worth it to me!

I DESPISE my GE flat top stove and can't wait to get rid of it. I don't like the way the pans slide around, and I especially hate that it stays so warm for so long. Thank goodness I do not have little children who could get burned on it. Then again, maybe if I had that worry, I could have justified getting rid of it sooner! ;)

I use a combination of Calphalon anodized, All-Clad and Emerilware (which is made by All-Clad) stainless. By far, the best pans for that stove are the All Clads. They heat very evenly.

I have 20 year old stainless steel Belgique pots and pans and they are still available at Macy's(every now and then I will add a new pan!) They are inexpensive, heat evenly, do not slide around! I can put them in the dishwasher too!

I love mine. I use my 10 yo Revereware on it, the aluminum clad bottom...I think they still make it.

One word of caution, even if stove is cool, do not place non-glaze stone or pottery on it....ie, pampered chef....it may scratch the top. I place a towel on the (COOL) stovetop before taking my pamperchef out of oven and putting it on stovetop.

And never put a cutting board on it either. I almost got myself a new stove (and a new house, oy) with that fiasco. :)
