Flat Stanley showed up at our house last weekend. We thought we might take him to the Kansas City area this weekend.

Can anybody give us some suggestions where we should take him? We don't necessarily need to actually tour all the places we go, but we at least need to get his picture there and maybe get him a postcard or souvenir. Smashed pennies are always great!

We would appreciate any help/suggestions anybody could give us!

TIA

I had friends who spent part of their weekend at Great Wolf Lodge on the Kansas side of the city. Looked like a fun place. Arrowhead stadium would be a place I'd want to take him as well - gotta love the Chiefs!

HELLO!!!! I'm in Warrensburg, but am from Kansas City.

Are you living in KC or visiting?

Of course, the big to do TODAY was the Grand Opening of the Bass Pro Shop in Olathe....

To me, THE PLAZA says, "Kansas City". The big horse fountain on the East side of the Plaza is a picture perfect place.

Is the giant badmiton (sp?) Birdie still out if front of the big museum? Isn't that the Nelson Art Gallery?

Crown Center...too.

Too bad World's of Fun isn't open, yet!

I'm drawing a blank. ..unless maybe the Royal's and Chief's
stadiums.....

Hope these give you some ideas!

I'd have him in front of a big plate of famouse KC ribs or KC barbeque!:teeth: Of course, this means *someone* would have to *help* Flat Stanley eat them, lol!

All good places! Plaza, Nelson, Stadiums, Ribs, and Union Station next to Crown Center has a penny press!

I have no idea where to take Flat Stanley but do have some fun suggestions.

We took our FS to the local lobster pound (we are in Maine our FS came from Califorina) and had one of the local fisherman hold FS with a lobster, Also happend to see the Portland Fire Dept on their fire boat and the fireman were more then happy to put FS at the wheel for a picture.

Ask the locals to hold him, I had more fun asking people and everyone said yes with a huge smile.

Our Fs also went to WDW with us, That was fun because my kids had no idea we were going and when you receive FS you have to dress him and my kids put him in winter cloths (it was Jan.) so when we went to Florida we made a big deal about how FS could not go into the pool with the kids because they did not allow snow pants LOL. We took so many pictures of FS with cast memebers from WDW, Oh he also got a monarail lic.

FS got his 1st Disney Pin, The capt of the plan gave FS his first wings and let him sit in the capt's seat and wear his hat. We stuck all the pins to FS.

Back home in Maine FS went horse back riding, sleding.

I also got really creative and scrapbooked the FS project.

We had so much fun and when we sent him back we had to send FS to our little friends teacher not our friend so they had no idea who their FS was untill open house and they were all layed out in the class room.

My friend called me that night and told us that their FS was the hit of the class.

I took FS to KC on a business trip a couple of years ago. Some colleagues took me to a place that was the border between KCMO and KCK but I can't remember the name of it!

Maybe somebody else will know?

Thanks for all the great suggestions!

We are in Kansas City now. We live in the STL area.

We took Stanley to Independence to see some of the Truman stuff. We went to Crown Center, Hallmark Visitors Center and to Union Station.

We decided not to go to the Plaza and The Nelson b/c the weather was so awful.

Hubby NEEDED to go to Cabela's so Stanley made it to Kansas as well. I NEEDED to Build-A-Dino, so all is fair. We also went to the Great Wolf Lodge and smashed him some pennies. He really wanted to go to the water slide!

Tomorrow we will take him to the Stadiums before we leave. We will go home down 50 through Jeff City to get his picture at the Capital and anything else we find along the way. :)

Thanks again for all the suggestions. You were all very helpful. Yet another reason why I LOVE the DIS!!!!
