We've got two of these and both of them have this problem... vertical lines. There is a single line that stretches from the top to the bottom of the screen. I don't know what is causing it but I wish I knew how to get rid of it!

I'm wondering if this is a common flaw in these types of monitors. Anyone else have this happen and is there any way to fix it?

I have a flat screen but don't have any of your problems.............cross fingers I don't too

Roberta, is this a flat screen or a flat panel? Also what brand?

I admit I hadn't heard of a vertical line on any, but I am well aware of some brands (ones that use a Trinitron tube) have a horizontal line.

Oh and my husband just said he has heard of some brands with a vertical line.

I have an HP F70 model, I don't have vertical lines, I just have problems with it changing colors. It changes from blue, red to yellow shading. One day it will meet the pavement and be replaced by a BETTER one that DOES NOT change colors and then I will be happy. :hyper:

POS is what I call it :p

gr8panther,

Check your monitor cable to be sure it's firmly attached to the back of your monitor and to your computer. The great majority of the time, a loose (or occasionally even a bad) cable is the reason for colors changing or not being true on a monitor...

Oh I did that, even took the monitor apart, it is just a POS... right now they are screwed in so tight, might need a drill to get them out, lol

Oh the thought HAS crossed my mind!!! I have other monitors, but they are all small. This one that I am cursing out daily is a 17" compared to the others that are 13"! I also have my laptop, so when I get mad at my desktop monitor, I just cool down using the laptop :p

Horizontal lines are easy, the up and down lines... the only thing I have seen to cause them is a Video card going out. I would suggest 2 things; search the box for drivers specific to the monitor. Incorrect drivers can cause screwy problems. Also, I would call the place from whence it came; if it is a problem with yours, others have probably complained as well.....
