2)What feature do you really like on your flash you never thought you'd use before you got it?

-learn to use bounce, fill, highspeed sync, reflectors, etc.
-always keep the flash directly above the lens. if you rotate the flash, you will get an ugly sideways shadow
-learn to get a feeling for how long the batteries. when you notice it's taking longer to charge up etc. you will notice this far faster when using flash at full power
-start with 'P' mode, but then learn to use it in av and then manual.
-learn placement of the flash for decent 'catchlights' (eye reflections)
-don't use flash to try to illuminate objects that are too far away

i'm sure there are several others but it's 1am and i've been up since 5:30

edit: also learn to use second curtain and off camera flash.
oh and part 2: the master/slave function is great. i dont know of anything else i didnt expect in the 580...
