I just reloaded Drudgereport.com, I load it every 10 minutes or so. and the flash is: VIOLENCE THREAT IN EISNER BATTLE

Roy Disney stunned reporters on Tuesday with talk of violence against DISNEY head Michael Eisner. "If we had enough rifles, we would have this thing over with," Disney claimed at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel.... MORE...

---

Looks like things are just getting interesting!

The news this morning replayed that statement....I don't think anybody thought it was anything more then a harmless joke.

However, one of financial pundants on the morning business station made a comment that roy resigned from the board after ME and the board failed to appoint his son to the board. First I've heard that.

That's interesting... I hadn't heard that either. If there was any kind of validity to that, I would think Disney would have leaked that out to the public.

There also remains the issue of Roy being "kicked off" the Board himself.

Roy did want his son hired by the company as an animator I think, which did not happen. There was no chance his son would be appointed to the board. I don't know how much it was related to his resignation, probably not a lot.

The quote about the rifles was from Tuesday afternoon's rally, and was picked up and quoted by other news sources as well, everyone there thought it was just a joke.

Yeah ... but after comments by Roy's wife that she wants to "punch Michael Eisner in the nose" and quotes by his kids about wanting to strand ME on a boat in the middle of the ocean "because he hates sailing," coupled with Roy's comment at Tuesday's meeting equating Michael's exit to the death of the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz, you've gotta wonder if, as Roy says, "I'm doing my darnedest to keep it from being personal. This is about performance."

Sounds personal to me.

Riiiiiiight.

Ahem, has anybody noticed the 'rhetoric' lobbed toward Mr. Gold and Mr. Disney by the very same Ei$nerstein and his henchman, Bob Igor?

I know that Cou$in Mikey tries to be funny and flippant sometimes, but some of his comments were downright rude. "That was a joy," he said after Mr. Disney gave an impassioned plea for a return to excellence and creativity.

"And I thought Stanley was trouble..." or something like that to another stockholder.

And then just a few days ago, he and Iger had this to say:

Eisnerstein and Igor subtly call The Element liars in a USAToday interview

You know what is a big fat stinkin' lie? (Well, other than every time Igor opens his mouth.)

That Mikey has a reputation for longterm relationships in Hollywood...

That Mikey is absolutely committed to animation...

That 'Disney' made Toy Story2 when in reality they 'distributed' it...

Then Igor not-in-so-many words calls Mr. Disney a liar, and Ei$ner says what he wants to say to Roy, he won't say in public or private. (Ovitz and 'The Midget' come to mind? Maybe Mikey has learned his lesson).

You won't get an argument from me that part of this is personal from Mr. Disney, but the question is, do you blame him?

I saw the "rifle" clip yesterday.
Like many blurbs it was taken out of content.
Roy was talking about an army of soldiers, marching on, etc.
Then he laughingly made the rifle comment.
But it could be used in either content. ;)
I can see what he means.
Rifle = Fire Power (Wouldn't almost all of us like the Power to Fire Ei$ner? ;) )
I think what he was really referring to was strength in numbers, etc.

Nope. But I think he should call it what it is. He's asking for full disclosure from everyone else, so he should practice what he's preaching. To say "It's all business" and then come out with comments from his kids and his wife about what THEY'd like to do to ME just causes that position to lose some steam. I mean ... if Jane Eisner were out there going on the record about how she wanted to hogtie Roy, then OK. (Silly and juvenile still, but at least even.) But if it's supposedly "all business," why the schoolyard threats?
