Flare getting picky with personal items.

Got me for $84 saying my bag was too large. I have over 100 flights with that bag, including with them and 2 weeks prior with another carrier. They were charging others as well. My bag was smaller than our dog carrier but they charge more than that for the dog to go under the seat. They threatened to charge my wife for her very small pocket book so she tucked in the dog carrier until getting seated.
Then I saw a segment on Canadian news were gate agents are getting $10 commissions for catching people. The way this woman was going about things it was easy to see she was.

I had a gate agent tell us our carryons were too big (just by looking at them) and would need to be gate checked. This in 2023 and they weren't charging yet for gate checked (WestJet). We got the tags, but I had DH go and measure them again so that I would know going forward. Sure enough they were fine.

You need to keep measuring your luggage and comparing it to the allowable size on the airlines these days. The airlines keep changing their acceptable allowances.

Interesting news that gate agents are being rewarded for "catching people". That is a new level of low (although there are a lot of people who do push those limits).
