Friend just got back from a trip to WDW and in between the positive dining reviews there was this one negative that stood out.

"Flametree meal was horrible, Hardly any meat among all the fat"

Anyone else dine there in recent past to weigh in?

I have it penciled in for lunch on my AK day coming up and now wondering if I should make alternate plans.

We go there all the time never had a problem. We loved the food they give you so much for a Quick Service. We love it and it was delicious. I would give it a shot and you can decide if you like you will never know unless you try it. I have recommended Flame Tree to others and they have loved it. But sometimes there are times ( as with any restaurant) that it might not be as good and this was probably one of those times.

Flame Tree is an absolute must do when we are in AK. In all the many years we have been visiting the World we've had a bad fatty batch of ribs maybe twice. 95% of the time nice and meaty!

Have also tried the new Africa food section ribs, really very fatty both times, so it's off my list now.

We love flame tree. Just ate there and it was wonderful. The bbq chicken was delicious.

OMG! Flame Tree BBQ is our favorite QS at WDW. Never had an issue as your friend.........that's not to say it didn't happen..........but I've never experienced it. We do FTBBQ every trip.

I was there in April and I didn't think there wasn't any meat. It's not the greatest ribs but it's okay. If you want to make sure you have enough "meat", then order combo instead of just ribs. There's BBQ beans, cornbread, and corn (?) sides so you won't be hungry. In fact, most of us couldn't finish out food because there was so much.

Even at the award winning BBQ place here in NC (they've won BBQ Pitmasters a few times on Food Network) I have gotten the odd fatty or lean rib. It's not usual, but it has happened. Flame Tree is, in our opinion almost as good as the local joint. While we've yet to get the fatty/lean piece I'm sure it happens from time to time. We'd never skip Flame Tree.

Appreciate the re-assurances.

Most of my family is from the South so I was raised on good barbecue. Hopefully my friend just got an unlucky plate and all will be good.

There is an absolutely great BBQ place about 20-30 minutes from Disney. SO no if you want your BBQ in the park it will not work. 4 Rivers Smokehouse is in Winter Garden. Just google it for directions. Have eaten BBQ all over the country from Allens in NC, to the place in San Diego filmed for Top Gun and this is some of thebest I have had. Of note have not been to KC or Austin but soon for the BBQ. The have the whole works from Sausauge to Burnt ends so you will not be dissapointed. Call ahead and see if they have the Krispy Kreme Bread pudding, wonderful.

Forgot they are closed on Sunday's. Also try to avoid lunch rush and go early or late. Never been at dinner told it is quite busy.

We like to eat at Flame Tree when we are in AK and never had an issue. There's always more than enough food, the food is good, and it's one of the better QS in WDW, IMO.

same problem. we used to LOVE the turkey sandwich there. delicious and large. last time it was awful! we will never go back

disney qs places do a huge volume so there is going to occasionally be a bad <insert mass produced food item here>. If you get a bad one, bring it back and ask for a replacement. most places do not get fairly consistently good reviews by serving bad food by choice.

If you get a bad batch you can always go right back up and ask for them to correct.

I had the same issue the one time we went.

I'd go for the ribs at Harambe Market instead, those were great.

I'm from Georgia, as a matter of fact the smoker is getting fired up tomorrow for some ribs, sausage and butt for pulled pork, I've eaten at Flame Tree. It isn't what my honey makes or what you will get at the little local joint in the country but it's not bad.

Not only have we always enjoyed the food, the seating area down but the water is one of our hidden gems at AK! Lovely!

We ate there during our trip in early August and found the quality wasn't as good as in the past. We will be finding someplace new to try next year.

Oh man I am shocked. Flametree is my go-to place at AK. Our latest meal was spot-on and the ribs were no joke good! Your friend should have complained and I'm sure they would've replaced the meal. One poster mentioned the ribs at Harambe and the one I ate this year was fatty and too crispy/overcooked. There is a difference, one is pork and the other is beef. The beef ribs are fattier and bigger but just keep that in mind. The chicken curry at Harambe....AMAZING!

The ribs in that pic look darn fine too me.
With some really nice ADRs booked Flametree is one of the meals I'm most looking forward to.

We have enjoyed Flametree on three separate occasions. It was delicious every time. The chicken , the ribs and the side dishes were delicious. The smoky smell woos you to the restaurant as you walk through the park. No complaints here.
