flame suit on!!!

Ok, Called at 180 days and all I could get for a party of 2 for Coral Reef was 8PM. Called several more times with no luck. One more try and CM gave me a much better time then, OOPS that's not for 2 people. 2 people- 8PM.

We have to get up at 4AM for our flight and waiting until 8PM for dinner was going to be tough!!! So I called back & asked for a party of 3 & got exactly the time I wanted, in fact I could have ANY time I wanted!! SO I TOOK IT!! This is my third Sept trip in a row and I deserve it::yes::

If you are ok with lying then, who are we to say anything?

No flames from me. You do what you gotta do when the system's flawed.

3/4th of the time when we dined in WDW as a party of 2 we were seated at tables for four anyway. There just aren't enough tables for 2 in most restaurants, and they're often taken by parties of 5 or 6 who couldn't get a regular table for 6.

This is one thing I don't understand about WDW restaurants. All the restaurants where I live no matter how nice takes your reservation no matter the party size if they have that time open. Sometimes you get seated at a 2 person table sometimes at a 4 person table. But you called first before a 3 or more party called so your 2 party reservation gets the table. Why can't WDW do this too? It sucks for us that only have 2 people.

Had no idea they do this, thats unreal. Can you just do 3 people if its regular TS and say the other is coming, but woops they didn't!!

Might need my flame suit for that :P

We have the same problem...we have a party of 5 for our upcoming May trip and a CM finally told me, "we have limited tables for 5 and once they are gone we only have 4 or 6 seater tables." Very frustrating, but at least I know why we have encountered difficulty.

This is Disney not behaving like every other restaurant in north america and actually be biased and discriminatory against parties of 2. This is not lying to save money, or steal, which is why most people are flamed on the board. Your assessment of lying seems to be an extreme over simplification in this case. If they are concerned about occupancy rates, add extra tables at the restaurants that can be swapped in to create 2 person seats instead of 4.

No flames from me either. I agree with the other posters that it should be on a first come (or call in this case) first serve basis as well.

One time we had a party of 4 going to Ohana and then my sister decided she wanted to come eat with us so I called Disney Dining and asked if we could add one more person to our party. The CM told me our table could only seat 4 and there were no more tables of 5 for the rest of the evening - so I told my sister not to come. Turns out when we got there, not only was the restaurant practically empty, but we were seated at a table for 6!! I was so :furious:. Sometimes I just don't understand how their system works. :confused3

A lie, is a lie, is a lie. Just because you agree or don't agree with a policy doesn't mean that it isn't a lie.

Well, Disney is also lying when they say there is no table available. Tit for tat.

I booked a table for 4 at Le Cellier with only 2 of us going. I've already offered the 2 extra spots to someone who posted on here that she couldn't get in there that night. That way 2 separate sets of 2's get to eat there on a night that both sets were told that there were no tables. I felt that it was the best way I could get in without robbing someone else of chance to go.:goodvibes

No flames from me either. Last August we moved heaven and earth to get to our ADR at Coral Reef on time - only to wait an hour with our then 3 year old and another 1/2 hour for service once we were seated. The manager admitted to us that they overbook, it is Disney's policy and there is nothing he can do to stop it. Apparently, they want to fill every single seat, no matter what! And I don't even remember seeing any tables that were just for 2.

So if you want to eat there, I have no problem with you changing the number in your party to get the time you want. I feel like, they're not playing fair either with all the overbooking.

I hope your experience there is better than ours, because with a 6:00 ADR, we did wind up eating closer to 8!

You think that's bad? Try being a solo diner!

Disney Dining's system has different (and more) tables for two-three people than for one-two people.

I remember one year trying to get dinner at California Grill; there was about a 70% chance that the friends who were driving up for the day would be able to stay for dinner.

I could get a table for three at about 7:15, but for one diner they had nothing until 9:30!

And, BaBeeCee - my brother once tried to add me to his Chef Mickey's reservation for five, with the same result: The answer was "no" - or at least, not until after 9 - but when they arrived without me, the table was for six.

I have to admit, based on this thread, we called tonight for a 3 topper at Le Ceiler for our trip when there are only two of us. We got it for the time we wanted. If someone would like to join us on Sept 18 for dinner, please PM me. I would never have thought to do that if I hadn't seen it here first.

No flaming from me! I'm calling tomorrow to see if there might be an earlier time for my Park Fare ADR if I ask for a table of four instead of three since all I could get was 8:30 with a three year old who is used to going to bed at 8pm not eating dinner then.

Never thought about the group of two being turned away because of not needing a table for 3. This is probably why when I added dd to our ADR's for June all sorts of times opened up for us. We now needed the bigger table that there are more of.

:rotfl2: Very true!

I did the same thing earlier this week. I called at 7am on my 180 days for 2 at Le Cellier and was told there were none available. So, I said "How about for3?" I got a, "I seen one for that".

It's not the greatest time, but hey...it's a table.

no problem with it here either. Sometime you have to do what works and I really don't see this instance as cheating the system too bad...Enjoy your dinner @ Coral Reef and don't stress about it. I am sure many others do it also.

Terrible! Horrible! Yea, right. Just kidding. Glad you got the table at the time you wanted! No flames from me either!:lmao: :goodvibes :cool1:

Okay - I have to admit this had got me thinking. We will have 4 paying customers and a 2 yr old so we have to book every place for 5. I have one meal that I just can't get a better time on. 'If' I try for a ressie for 4 and get a better time what happens when I show up with my 2 yr old also in tow? Do I need to be at all worried that I will be turned away???

OK OK OK..the real story. If you show up with your toddler in tow with a table for 4 and you really have 5. You may have to wait a considerable time till a table for 5/6 opens up. The booking systems is not flawless, but it does make sense. When you call and ask for a table of 2 they may not be any. Also the CM may not read the "dine screen right" and not do you justice. I can tell you that at 180 days yes, your resteraunt may be booked. The phones ring at 7 am and the dine planners go to work. Cinderllas Royal Table and Le Cellier sell out almost in 20 minutes. I know this is troubling, but Disney went from 2 weeks to 30 days, to 3 months, and now to 180 days. Remeber when YOU lie it can and will cause problems for others wanting the same thing. So now on the other foot, try booking dinning for 12 and at 15 resturants all at the same time. When you call 407-wdw-dine, you are calling a CM that has to deal with some 140 plus resturants and hundreds of situations. The resturant may not be available when you call, and that can change in a matter of 15 minutes. To understand when you book your dining watch the numbers on your resses from the first to the last number you book at the same time. I have seen some 300 numbers in as short as 15 minutes. They have over 1500 agents booking dining and room resses.
