FL Tours or rental car??

We will be going from MCO to RPR for 3 days in Sept and then from RPR to POR for 7 days and back to MCO. I got the rate from FL tours but it is about 20.00 cheaper to rent a car for the trip to RPR and to POR and then drop it off at the onsite car center. We have never rented a car before and don't really have the "want" for one but if it is cheaper than getting the transfers does it make sense to go with it? Also, is it a pain to get the car to the care center? How do you get back to your resort? Thanks!!
