I own at DVC, but live in Md. Recently a friend of mine bought DVC, and said they got Florida residence passes because they own(they also live in Md). I would love to know if anyone else has heard of this. I don't need season or annual passes- just a 3 day pass, but for future reference, would be good to know. Any help would be great. Thanks!!!

DVC Members are not considered FL residents and there is no opportunity to get FL Resident passes from Disney as a DVC Member (unless you are actually a FL Resident who also owns DVC).

Your DVC contract even specifically mentions that DVC ownership does not make an owner a FL resident.

Perhaps your friend has some other property that qualifies them as FL residents - or perhaps they meant they were able to get Annual Passes or the TIW card just like FL Residents are able to get.

However, this year the AP prices for DVC members were "agreed" to the Florida Resident rate. If your friend bought an AP they could have been told it's the Florida Resident rate just because the rate is the same.

Or they got the world's most confused CM, but that one is hard to believe.

Florida resident APs require a gov't-issued ID showing Florida citizenship to pickup, just like DVC APs require a DVC ID to pickup. Unless they have a Florida Drivers License, passport, etc, they wouldn't get the Florida resident discount.

It's only possible by meeting the requirements that Disney puts in place (which may be different than actual residency requirements) or by being dishonest. As I understand it, it is not possible to be a legal resident of more than 1 state at a time. Whatever rules Disney decides upon is not necessarily tied to residency in FL but they have chosen to label it that way.

I am thinking she may have an AP with the DVC discount. I just couldn't believe I had never heard of this. LOL Thanks to you all for the clarification. :thumbsup2
