My DD friends are coming to Dsiney with us. One of the girls grandmother lives in Fl (about 1 hr from Disney). Can the grandmother buy the girls park passes with the FL resident discount? What is the discount rate anyways? Not sure, if she could do it, would be worth the drive for a 2/3 day park hopper.

Thanks

No sorry...FL resident tickets are for FL residents...you have to show proof of residency.

What's needed for proof of residency? My husband is living down there (we are going after school is out), what does he need to show?

Drivers license or utility bill.

To add, the grandmother can buy the kids FL resident discount tickets provided that they are staying with her and they are minor children. In the past, we've bought our nephews, 7 & 11, from Michigan discounted tickets when they've come down and stayed with us.

I don't think Disney will accept a utility bill any longer and you're right about the minor children...since they don't have ID's at that age.

They no longer accept utility bills.

Are the girls under 10? She could likely 'get away' with buying children's tickets even though it is against the rules.

I think the discount for a one-day pass is less than $10. It was about $5-6 a few years ago.

Per the Disney website:

When you order Florida Resident tickets, you will receive an exchange certificate in the mail. Redeem the exchange certificate at any Walt Disney World® Theme Park ticket window by presenting the exchange certificate and valid photo ID.

Tickets are non-transferable, are only valid during regularly scheduled operating hours and exclude activities/events priced separately. No additional discounts apply. Proof of Florida residency for each adult required.

There are no problems with children. Although my little relative does live here in Florida, I've purchased FL resident passes for him through my AAA and have never had to show ID for him.

On the other hand, my wife's mother asked if she could have a FL resident pass for her visiting granddaughter and the answer was no.

You will be asked to show valid photo ID (driver license, sherrif's ID, passport, student (current year) ID, military ID, ect.) when presenting the voucher at the gate for the actual pass if you are an adult.

California DL is not as strict. We had a military family member with us, who purchased our tickets on base (that also indicated on them that you needed to be a California resident) we got to the gate, not sure that they'd allow us to use the passes, but they did. They didn't want to see our ID. We got the impression that because the military person was with us, we were ok. Not sure if that was the real case or not, but we weren't going to argue with them. :)

If you are used to DL, you may be lulled into thinking that Florida won't check, but WDW does. (Again, for adults).

The only place that I have noticed that florida pass worth it is either through the AP or when they do the 3days for $99 but then it's not a hopper.

Florida Resident tickets are only available to actual Florida Residents and cannot be purchased for out-of-state family or friends.
*
An adult Florida Resident may purchase Florida Resident media for more than one Florida Resident from any location that provides an exchange certificate and not an actual ticket.
*
Children under the age of 18 are not required to provide proof of Florida residency if they are accompanied by an adult with valid proof of Florida residency
*
If the Guest has an exchange certificate, a valid form of Florida ID will be required when the exchange certificate is redeemed for the actual pass
*
One ticket only per valid proof of Florida residence (a Florida resident may buy tickets for minors in the party)

Exchange Certificates may say:

*
"After sale..., may not be transferred except as a gift." This means that the certificate may be given as a gift, so long as the recipient meets the defined Florida residency criteria.
*
"Purchase and redemption of this exchange certificate requires proof of Florida Residency."

-- The following items are the only documents accepted as proof of Florida Residency:

* Valid Florida State Drivers License
* Valid Florida State issued ID Card with Florida Address
* Valid Florida Voter’s Registration Card with the Guest's name and address with corresponding photo ID
* Valid Florida University / College Student ID
* Valid Military ID stationed at one of the Florida Military Bases listed below:
o Clearwater Coast Guard Station
o Eglin AFB
o Hurlburt Field AFB

In addition, if you check out Post #4 in the Everything About WDW Tickets locked stickey in TPA&S (follow the link in my signature) you will get lots of information about Florida Tickets. (And Post #16 gives prices)
