There is a link in an email that went out yesterday that allows you to book rooms from Aug - early Oct online. It's nice not to have to call CRO, stay on hold, inquire about different resorts, etc.

It's great to be able to shop and take all the time you need to make a decision. However, there's one drawback. The terms are WDTC terms. So, you get the 45 day cancellation period and the $200 fee if you cancel within that window.

However, if you pick up the phone and call using the code (which is provided in the very same email) you get the regular 5 day cancel period, of course. And, the exact same rates.

So, WDW has offered a convenience to guests, one that potentially cuts down on the need for staffing and reduces hold times for other guests calling to make reservations. But, then DISCOURAGES people from using it by offering less appealing cancellation terms and a higher deposit for all but the more expensive resorts.

Not sure I fully understand the logic.

I was just going to post about this. Also no matter what I do I get Ft Wilderness cabins!

I'll stick to the phone...

Thanks!

On their website where it says Florida Residents on the upper right. Click on that and then go to where it talks about the latest hotel room deals. Then click on that and when that loads it will have a box on the left that says "Book your stay". Click there.

Good luck!

When I go there all I get is rack rate. I was able to get it for $60 less a night when I called. Unless I didn't go the same place the OP was talking about. The more I read the OP I think it was an email that was sent out. I got the FL resident/AP when I called last weekend so I am happy with that!! :Pinkbounc

I always call too. I wouldn't trust the online stuff and don't like the cancellation terms.

The website is useful in determining availability and pricing at the different resorts. But, then, pick up the phone and call - unless you are absolutely sure you won't cancel within 45 days.

I just booked yesterday online, and was able to get a FL resident rate with the CRO cancellation policy of 6 days with full refund.

You are correct. The "Terms and Conditions" still say 45 days. But, now if you go all the way to the payment screen, it indicates 6 days. That's teriffic. And the deposit is one night, and not the flat $200.

This is great news.

Might you mix up room only and packages?
Usually deposit for room only is 1 night and full payment by check-in or 200$ and full payment 45 before arrival for packages?

No mix up. At the page where you make the final decision to book, it indicates the 6 day cancellation. But, it also asks you to "sign off" on the terms and conditions. If you click on the terms and conditions, it indicates 45 days. That's the confusion.
