The “difference”?Due to the recent upgrades to the DVC site, if you cancel a favorite/guaranteed week - the difference do not show up on your original contract points. It is "gifted" back and is not visible until you book a future reservation. Also, they are not bankable.
Thanks. I dont need booking, banking to be any harder than it already is.It must be another glitch with the system being terrible lately. They should be bankable according to the terms in the home resort rules and regulations once you cancel/opt out of the guaranteed week.
"12. Home Resort Vacation Points related to a Fixed Ownership Interest may not be Banked, Borrowed, or Transferred unless the Club Member has opted-out of or cancelled the Club Member’s Guaranteed Reservation for the Use Year during which the Club Member intends to use the Home Resort Vacation Points for such other purposes. If, in any Use Year, a Club Member wants to Bank Home Resort Vacation Points into the following year, the Club Member must first opt out of the Guaranteed Reservation for the current Use Year. If, in any Use Year, the Club Member wants to Borrow Home Resort Vacation Points from the following year, the Club Member must first opt out of the Guaranteed Reservation for the following Use Year. If, in any Use Year, the Club Member wants to Transfer Home Resort Vacation Points, the Club Member must first opt out of the Guaranteed Reservation for the applicable Use Year."
Were you told this is a new rule?Due to the recent upgrades to the DVC site, if you cancel a favorite/guaranteed week - the difference do not show up on your original contract points. It is "gifted" back and is not visible until you book a future reservation. Also, they are not bankable.
My favorite week actually costs less to book than the current chart. I wonder how it works in that situation. Too bad I opted out of my week 7 for next year already, by borrowing points ahead of time.Guaranteed/Favorite Weeks are 10% more. For example if you purchased for example - Polynesian Tower Duo studio week 49 is 128 points if you purchase a favorite week, but to book it not using your favorite week is 116 points, there is a difference of 12 points. If you cancel the guaranteed reservation, before the DVC system upgrade, you get the 128 points back. Now you get the 116 points back, but the 12 is "gifted" and not visible until you go and book.
Um…. they charged people upfront for those points to buy and they paid dues on them…. so they are definitely not in any way “gifted”.Guaranteed/Favorite Weeks are 10% more. Same! I can take the extra two points.100%.
Must just be another glitch which they are trying to explain away. Although on this logic, I might get back more points than I own if I cancelled my FW!
This is not in line with home resort rules and regs. Did you question it? I would definitely not accept that position!I’m not sure this is all that new. I cancelled my W52 FW a few months ago and the ‘extra’ points were not bankable.
At the time I thought it was just an error by Member Services, not a change in process. This is not in line with home resort rules and regs. Did you question it? I would definitely not accept that position!
Banking or Borrowing may be suspended or limited by DVC Operator from time to time, in its discretion, in order to maintain a proper balance of reservations and Home Resort Vacation Points in the Club’s central reservation system.
Looking back, I opted out after it was booked. Here are the relevant steps:I will have to go back to figure out whether I opted out before or after it was booked.
