Fix a broken Wii?

The kid's Wii has a disk error message. The standard things have not worked and I fear it needs to be opened. Has anyone actually fixed a wii? I googled and there are fixes for sale, but I'll just pay the $75 to Nintendo if I can't repair it easily on my own. Anyone have a fix?

Have you tried the trouble-shooting stuff on their website? Or called Nintendo? They were able to fix mine over the phone. Hopefully it's still under warranty!

I sent mine to Nintendo and paid the fee. My son jammed another game disk into it without taking the previous disk out Nintendo was very eay to work with and it didn't take all that long.
