What are the hours for the fitness center?

I read that there was a 'running track' on Deck 4. Can you walk on that?

I need to start planning to work off all that great food :rotfl:

If I recall correctly it was about 6:30 am that the fitness center opened. I was training for a marathon on one cruise and managed a 12 mile training early in the morning. Deck 4 gets crowded once people start moving around during the day but is usable.

ITA!

The shuffleboard courts and the comfy loungers are on Deck 4. It is not a running track, per se, but just a Deck that goes around the entire ship. You will find walkers there too, and it is pretty narrow to pass in some places. Try to go early, and make sure you bring your patience with you.

Unless it has changed recently, the fitness center opens at 7am on the Wonder, and the spa at 8am. (I don't know why it would be different on the Magic, but I suppose it could be. Look at some old navigators.) I don't know when it closes.

I walked every evening on our last cruise around the track around 10pm...it was always empty. I got up in the morning and walked again around 7:00 a.m. A few more people but a mix of walkers and runners! I will be doing it again on our next trip! Gotta work off all that good cruise food! :-)

Although we never used the fitness center or "exercised" using deck 4 we did manage to get in some exercise.
Avoid the elevators. The stairs are a great workout. I think the only time we took the elevator was upon boarding when we went to deck 9 for the beach blanket buffet and had our carry-on luggage with us. After that, it was nothing but stairs.
DH and I also did a power walk when we got to CC. There was a power walk scheduled at 10:00 am. We were told we missed it, but I don't think it ever happened. That was okay, but it might have been nice to have had the company and interesting bits of information that might have come along with a CM. There were several people running in the morning. I'm not sure how long the walk was, but I'd guess between 4-5 miles from ship to the farthest point out at the adult beach and back to the ship. (Then you always have to walk back to the beach area.)

We take a stroll around 4 most nights, there's no one there in the evenings. Also, I agree with the stair thing. Yesterday, I walked every stair onboard in the public spaces. Every stair! I'm sure I missed some, even though I was pretty thorough. Took over an hour!

I walked deck 4 for an hour every day on my Jan 05 cruise. I walked at different times each day and never found it crowded. A few times you couldn't walk completely around if they were working up in the bow of the ship. It really didn't matter since you could still get through the stern and just reverse your trip. Occasionally people didn't observe the direction signs, but all in all it was never too crowded.

I thought I read somewhere that it was suppose to be a running track. Oh well...just used to a daily stroll with little bit...figured it would be nice to continue that (especially b/c I know I'll be eating TOO much good food :teeth: )

If I remember correctly 3 times around is a mile, and they do have direction signs posted showing which way you should be running. The straightaways are great, they are very wide, the whole side of the ship, however the ends at the port and aft ends of the ship are very narrow. You go right thru the engine area. There are mirrors mounted up on the walls so that you can see around the corners when you are running. I ran only twice during my May 15th Wonder cruise and although a couple of people were walking, it was pretty quiet on the "track". There were maintainence guys in yellow jumpsuits doing some work and the deck had many people laying in deck chairs, and some people playing shuffleboard. I found no problem going around them. Both times I had a very peaceful, uneventful run.

Now you're talking. Just me and the baby girl...strolling along with the ocean stretching out around us...I can't wait :goodvibes

One more question about the fitness center (although if I can stroll...I won't need it)...is there a charge for that? Also...when do they close in the evening?

We walked around deck 4 almost every night with my 5 year old..of course we stopped to play shuffleboard everytime we came to the shuffleboard. I actually almost killed a jogger one evening..not on purpose but the shuffleboard is right there on deck 4 where the people run...and one ran by just as I pushed the shuffleboard disk, got under the joggers feet and they almost went down to the floor on their face...gotta be careful!
Our first cruise I would push my daughter in the stroller around and around on deck 4 on nice evenings.
