FITBIT? Has this been discussed?

Loving it. Got sick last week and got lazy logging food but I'm back this week.

Awesome! :cool1:

Amazing how such a little tiny thing can have such a giant impact on your life! All of those Amazon reviews that I read that said it was life-changing, I really am thinking I agree. And I have not even had mine for a week!

GO phorsenuf! :thumbsup2

Thanks. It is funny how motivating this little thing is. Last night when I headed to bed I looked to see my final steps count. I was 19 short of 6,000 so I walked to the other side of the house and back again. :rotfl:
I'm finding it's fairly easy for me to hit 6,000 now so I'm upping my steps.

Started wearing mine two days ago. Hope it gives me motivation:cool1:

Day 1 & 2 I did not feel great, but on day 3 the motivation really kicked in for me & I went to the gym & got on the treadmill. It was so exciting to get my first 10,000 step badge, that it sparked my motivation into a fire :cool1:

So, for the last 4 days I have made sue I hit my goals. And yup, I often ask DH " how many mor minutes until midnight" so I can get in those last steps or flights of stairs.

Last night at 11:54 I had reached my goal of 25 flights. Sure enough, I did 5 more to get to 30 before midnight. You would think I am Cinderella waiting for the clock to strike with dread. :lmao:

Enjoy! And come over & join us on the Fitbit DIS Friends group.

And look on their site. See if there are any badges within your reach & go for them :cool1:

:cool1::cool1::cool1: on upping you step count. That is great!

I wish the Fitbit was waterproof. I spent an hour in the pool kicking around after my walk. I would have loved an actual calorie burn amount. I'm pooped now. :faint:

Thought I'd share a good app I started using recently. It's, "fooducate". The app grades food choices from A-F, gives reasons for the ratings (ex. high in sodium, nitrates, has GMO, all sorts of stuff) and people's comments. Have you guys tried it?

It nice it gives things in addition to what's on the label. Sometimes even if things are spelled out on the label, a thing or two might escape me, because I don't have time to read everything on everything.

Anyway, it's nice to see the grades and the explanations for the red flags or the green flags.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I haven't been logging my food the last few days. But I plan to get back to it. I have been eating fairly well.

OMG!!! I am sooo excited my DDS just gave me an early birthday gift...A FITBIT!!! He has set it up on the computer for me and its all set to go, but there is one problem...on the ride home it recorded some steps and calories burned etc...but they were NOT mine...and I would like to start with a clean and true start - can someone help? I do not know how to reset it...and I can not find anything on how to do this...thanks for helping....

I absolutely thought the same thing when I bought mine! I'm glad I'm not the only one! It wasn't many steps, like enough steps to get from the store to my vehicle. I think it was my steps.

Anyway, it's been doing fine.

OceanAnnie - Thanks for your response. I appreciate it. My son found somewhere that the initial numbers are put in according to the height and weight you originally set and it then calculates what you would have burned just being alive basically. He did set it for the alarm to go off at 5am - gym time! I am very excited to see how it works! Tell me how you like yours...any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

They are probably yours. You burn calories just being you & the Fitbit knows that. People burn calories just by living. They are yours. You don't have to give them back :thumbsup2

How many steps did it record? It not a lot, they are probably yours as well. You would be surprised how just a quick lap around the house will add steps. Hold it in your hand & walk down a hallway & see if it is counting correctly.

I have had my Fitbit for just over 2 weeks and I am absolutely in love  I cannot imagine what I would do without it.

My activity level has gone up so much it is, well, almost a miracle. It seems I have a bit of a competitive streak & I have found some like minded "friends" on their website.

Make sure & join our DIS Friends group. I think the link might be on page 4 of the thread. If you can't find it, post & I will find it for you.

We have one member in WDW not racking up some big #s on her steps. AMAZING! So excited for her. WDW & a giant rise to the top of our leader board all at once. Talk about magical. :woohoo:

Any other questions, ask away. I was very hesitant before I got mine & really was not sure. It has been absolutely life-changing in a few short weeks (16 days yesterday LOL).

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I see Ocean Annie & I responded at the same time.

I think you may have just joined a Cult.

That is ok - you are a member here, so you already belong to one, what is one more. :rotfl2:

I LOVE MY FITBIT!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Oh no - no running for me! Ack. Not awesome leg strength either, just really sore.

Really not very impressive at all. :guilty: I live in a two story house & I just do a set of 10 every once in awhile. It adds up. I could never do it all at once. Now, that would be impressive! :thumbsup2

I was looking back at some older posts & I found I posted this post about me running at the end of Jan. :scared1:

After having my Fitbit for such a short time, I am still NOT a runner, but I have agreed to enter a 5k & I am toying with a 1/2 marathon!

When I said life-changing, I really meant it!

Wow! That was me? And this is me now? :thumbsup2

Thanks DVCDaisy! I am a happy member. I am just concerned that I have no idea how to use this and have looked at the website etc but not quite getting it. I too am looking for motivation right now...less than two weeks to go before the PHM1/2 and I have been having a hard time getting myself to the gym..but I have to say I am totally looking forward to going in the morning!! I can only imagine how many steps 13.1 miles will bring!! How does the "rewards" stuff work? Does it just happen or do you have to set it up? Thanks...

Oh - the PHM1/2!!! A am seriously thinking of adding that to my bucket list, but I am really nervous having never even entered ANYTHING before! A 5k sounds scary!

The rewards? Like the badges? You just get them automatically. On the Fitbit site first & then about 12 hours later in an email that you can print, post to Facebook, whatever.

Make sure & send me a friend request. I am currently #2 on our leader board, behind our marathon runner (my hero) and to be passed up any second by our member who is at WDW now.

And don't really worry about figuring out how to use the Fitbit. It pretty much does everything on its own. Just remember to hold down the button for about 2 sec to start the sleep timer when you go to bed & do the same to stop it when you wake up.

I don't enter food, so if you are doing that, then somebody else here will have to help out with that. But from what I hear it works great with other programs.

Daisy - The PHM1/2 was my first and only race I had ever done in my life when I did it last year....believe me if I could do it so can YOU.....I am NOT a runner - I am only a walker, but have trained and can now walk a consitent 14 min mile. A super big accomplishment for me! This year my DD15 is joining me for the PHM1/2 and I am sooo excited to share this experience with her - some real mother/daughter bonding!! I would LOVE to join the Fbook group - how do I do that? You said send you a request - but where?

I went ahead and created a Fitbit group on the Fitbit site.

It is called DIS Friends.

Here is the link:

http://www.fitbit.com/group/22CL6G

So generously set up by Hrhpd.

Join the group. Then if you want to send friend requests, click on the person's picture & their profile will come up. It will have a place to hit Add Friend.

You can do that from the main board forum as well if you see someone or a subject that interests you.

I have found it is really fun to have "friends". Very motivational.

Let me know if you can't figure it out.

(Still scared about a 5k - can't even imagine a 1/2 - but I am talking myself into it, with the help of some Fitbit friends).

I think I joined the right group Daisy/Debbie? You mentioned you were #2 on the leaderboard! Quite impressive!! Well I better get to bed if I plan to get to the gym in the morning...have to leave my house by 5:30 to be home to start the day with the family! Now I will get to try out the sleep mode on this new toy!! Hope to talk to you tomorrow!

Yup - if you saw me, you are in the correct group. My spot on the leader board is going to take a very serious dive within hours :-).

My best day will fall off at midnight & Nicole is on a tear! She is racking up those steps like nobody's business. Plus, now that you have joined, we have another marathon (aka hero) person, so as soon as you hit 7 days, you will soar to the top.

I am taking a screenshot to savor the moment :rotfl: of me in the top 5!

Send me a friend request. Just click on my picture & you will see how. Once you are friends with someone, you can send messages to them, cheer for them, etc. Send requests to everybody - we should all be friends! :grouphug: that is what we are DIS FRIENDS :-)

PS - If anyone wants to send me a friend request - do so. I love my DIS Friends

Are you using the mobile app? If so, swipe across the entry and "delete" will appear.
