I am sorry y'all are getting so much snow, we're beginning to talk drought here because there's no snow! You can send it our way. :smooth:

This morning I didn't swim because DH and DS got up at 4 AM to go to an honor choir event. Ugh. At least I got to go back to bed! I did take my walk. Tomorrow I get to make the same long drive, only I'm not leaving until 10 AM. Hoping I can convince DH to join me in a walk when I get there! I will definitely need to stretch my legs!

I wanted to be outside, but snow, extreme cold and crazy winds have kept me inside. I am walking on my treadmill for exercise.

yesterday it wa 0 degrees but it was sunny and not much wind and my mind just wanted to be outside so I wore a ridiculous amount of clothes (really, I could barely fasten my fuel belt I had so many layers on) and ran. Or rather, tried to run. Between the shoddy road surface and breathing in the cold air, I was super slow. BUT it feel good to break free and be outside.

Oh my! I am definitely living in a winter straight out of the twilight zone! Wind chills down to -45 today. No shoveling today, I am not going out in this weather despite the 8-12 inches we are to get today. Adding 100 minutes of shoveling for Friday and Saturday.

OMG that is crazy! We are around -20 wind chill and that's the lowest I remember it in a long while. It's still nuts! Did all my workouts inside this weekend-
30 min cross training, 30 yoga, 30 mmx. New total 440/840
 
I spent 30 minutes on the treadmill yesterday and 25 minutes today of treadmill + medicine ball crunches

Plus, my valentine got me a fitbit so I have been able to track my steps! Yesterday I had 15,156 steps- crushing my goal of 10,000 :)

Lots and lots and lots of orange and purple on the first page. Some people are super close to changing colors. As a team we are at 42% :thumbsup2

I know it's cold out there, so let's share some of our favorite exercise things we like to do when the weather gets warm. Might be a nice way to think some warm thoughts and pretend it's not Arendale out there (for many of us).

I love to run, so you would think that would be my favorite warm-weather exercise, but honestly my favorite is swimming! I'm not a strong lap swimmer, but I love to be in the water. I don't get to go to the pool nearly as much as I wish I did, and I will probably beg DH for years to come to put one in our backyard. Ahhhh.... to be sitting poolside, getting all ready to dive in. Makes me (almost) forget it's barely 0* out there!
 
Day 1: 50 minutes/10,452 steps
Day 2: 47 minutes/10,262 steps
Day 3: 54 minutes/10,363 steps
Day 4: 36 minutes/10,275 steps
Day 5: 15 minutes/5,673 steps
Day 6: 12 minutes/5,582 steps
Day 7: 0 minutes/4,192 steps

Total: 214 minutes/700 minutes

Lesson learned from last week --- get more steps throughout the day or right after work. I have a desk job and don't move around much during the day. Last week I got most of my steps done in the evenings and sometimes that meant jumping on the treadmill after 9 PM. When I was done I was so wired, I didn't go to bed until midnight each night. As you can see this wasn't sustainable as I started to get really tired at the end of the week. Do better for this week is to do more in the mornings and during the day at work and walk right after work instead of waiting unit late.

Day 9: 6 minutes/6,263 steps
Day 10: 10 minutes/4,868 steps
Day 11: 38 minutes/10,774 steps
Day 12: 12 minutes/6,269 steps
Day 13: 7 minutes/6,895 steps
Day 14: 51 minutes/12,784 steps
Day 15: 5 minutes/7,735 steps

Total: 373 minutes/700 minutes

I completed a 5k on Saturday. It was not pretty but I'm glad I did it. I'm so sore today but drinking lots of water and taking ibuprofen.
 
Whew! 30 min upper body weights, 30 min running. My left shin is starting to protest. I better go find a new pair of shoes. Chances are its time to rotate.
