A few weeks ago I found two sets of 12 fiskars texture plates at target clearance for $3 a set so I grabbed them. Since I love the cuttelbug embossing I figured this would be a different spin. So I bought the texture tool (full price :() and tried it and it does not look good. I used regular card stock (to test on) and the paper gets all scratched up on the back side where I am rubbing and the front is not quite right.

Does anyone have any tips?

I've had the same frustration... so they are in a basket underneath some smaller scrapbooks... I think the only one I've gotten to work sorta right was the one that reminds you of a basket....

I'm anxious to see if we can get any tips... I wish I would have paid $3.00.. I used a 40% off coupon...but am still disappointed...

I haven't had too much luck myself- even when the front comes out right the back gets all scratched up. If you have the patience to do it you can use a stlus and trace around all the spots and it will define the texture better (but take forever).

Rubbing wax paper over both side of the paper seemed to work. I know you are supposed to rub it on one side but I wasn't sure which so I just did it on both and it helped.

I had ok luck with them when i put them through the cuttlebug with a piece of rubber - i think its called a plumber gasket or something like that- i also heard that if you spray a small amount of water on the paper it works better (when using it with the cuttlebug)
I agree - i dont like the look of the results with the handtool
hope this helps

how do you use the piece of rubber?

you use the piece of rubber in the sandwich. I think it goes (one of the thin plates the texture plate, the paper, the rubber piece, and then another thin plate.) try that and see if it works. you might have the same result with a piece of fun foam - just a thought

You will need a red rubber gasket material from Lowes 1/8"
product number PP25547 found in the plumbing dept.

A plate on bottom
Fiskar plate
paper
rubber mat(gasket)
B plate

The embossing is not as good as with the folders but will work. You may want to run it through more than once
