Fishing excursion?

My son loves to fish and bugs me to go on one of those fishing excursions every visit. I've always hesitated for a variety of reasons but this time I don't have one-except for the fact I'm extremely freaked out by the notion of touching a flappy squidgy fish. If you hire one of those fishing excursions, do you have to actually TOUCH the fish? Or does someone on the boat do that for you? So far, when my son goes fishing I've been lucky enough to have someone else around willing to do the actual 'fish part'. Anyone done the fishing excursions before? Any suggestions welcomed if I do have to touch 'THE FISH'. :)

I have not gone on a fishing excursion at Disney, but I'm considering it. I have read lots of different reviews about them, though, and it seems that the guides will let you do as much (or as little) as you are comfortable with. Meaning, they will bait your hook and take the fish off if you're not up for it ;) HTH. If I am mistaken, I am sure someone will come along and correct me.

I hope you decide to do it. We love to fish and I am sure you DS will get a huge kick out of it. :thumbsup2

I surprised DH for our anniversary with the fishing excursion. We were picked up at BWV and when DH realized what I had done he nicely told me "we aren't going to catch anything". Well, 28 fish later, he had to admit he was wrong and we had a blast.

We live on L.I. and love to go fishing. I am a little squimish about putting live bait on the hook but our boat "captain" was great, and if we needed help he was more than ready. It is a catch and release so if we both brought up a fish, DH would release one, the captain the other. They also will help unhook the fish since the fish is released and don't want any unneeded injury to the fish (besides the fact they already had a hook in their mouth!).

We fished all over and went down to DHS and then we were lucky enough to be waved into EPCOT by a Friendship boat captain and got to circle around WS. Got great pictures.

I would definitely do it again. Don't worry about having to touch the fish - tthe guides are used to it.

Thank you both! I'm feeling pretty relieved. Fishing sounds like fun. 28 fish! My boy hasn't caught that many ever!!
