I'm interested too! We've stayed at Aulani twice & each time I bring my collapsible fishing pole & go right off the resort in the early morning. It's AMAZING watching the sunrise. Hopefully someone can chime in cause I'd like to do the same next trip (sadly, not till 2025)

We hired Boom Boom fishing for a private charter last summer. We booked an all-day trip, but I believe they also offer half-day and shared trips. I included lots of details in my July 2023 trip report.

I checked out your trip report. We will definitely get sea sickness meds in advance. We live in FL and offshore fish frequently and have never needed it - but the Pacific looks way different. Quick question, do you remember if Boom Boom offered any services to ship your catch home?
I followed the path on the south side of the resort & fished between the lagoons (Kohola Lagoon & Honu Lagoon). I was mostly all by myself in the morning because it was ~6am & it was just perfect. A couple times there seemed to be a few locals. You'll see some signs warning of the dangers on the rocks, but it wasn't dangerous (at least not when I was there). I'll get around to making a post on my gear & setup, but make sure to where Keen's or similar sandals because it makes walking around on the rocks and getting in the water a breeze. Barefoot would be difficult. The fish I caught were so unique (at least to me). I'll have to post photos when I find them. I stopped by HiFishGear in Ewa Beach & they were fantastic about getting me setup properly. I don't think I needed a license when I fished, but that may be changing soon so I'm going to check in with them next time I go. The state website says "There is no marine recreational fishing license in Hawai‘i for residents, and although one is in the works for visitors it hasn’t been implemented yet. So you don’t need to worry about that as long as you don’t sell your catch. There are a few locations where shoreline fishing is prohibited. Read the fishing regulations." Again, double check before you fish. If you're interested I'll post my setup/photos/info in another post & let you know. Just wasn't sure how many Aulani visitors like to fish. I was the only one walking around with a fishing pole in the morning

They keep the majority of the fish that are caught to sell, but still gave us way more than we needed to take with us back to our room. As for shipping it back home, we did not inquire about this option.
