i just started getting into fishing again after not doing it for many years (mostly in part from watching River Monsters). so i was just wondering if anyone has done the fishing "excursions" in the World.

I haven't done it yet, but I have seen people fishing from the Disney party barge charters several times. Mostly in the canal that runs between DHS and the Boardwalk area. They seemed to be having a good time. We were waiting at the DHS boat dock and could see the bass resting near the dock. A couple of the guys caught some pretty big fish. It is all catch and release and Disney supplies all of the tackle. I might try it next time we go with my father. He 80 years old and doesn't get to go fishing that often because getting in and out of my boat is hard on his knees and shoulders. The Disney party barges are just a walk on and off. Looks like a pretty good deal. You can get a discount if you book a Magic Your Way Package.:)

nice ill have to look into that

the disney ones are ok ive done them when i was wayyyyy younger more than 10 years ago.. however dont disregard the fact that there are excursions on the ocean in cocoa beach/daytona beach, ect. that will also be just as much fishing fun maybe more because the guides that those companies use are top notch fishermen not a disney hired guide trained to fish in stocked ponds on disney property :)

we've done the guided fishing excursion at WDW numerous times....
we were picked up at different locations - the contemporary resort, the WL, and the GF..

i can't remember how long it is....2 to 3 hours?

it's fantastic!!!

i can't remember how many you can put on the boat, but we only ever had the four of us ..

they supply the rods and bait, as well as cold drinks...
and the guide will put the bait on the rod if you're too squeamish....

DH and i never fished, we would just watch the kids fish (DD and DS)...

since it's catch and release, it's basically like shooting fish in a barrel - you catch quickly and they're HUGE!! (bass)....i mean HUGE!!!

i'll see if i can find some pictures for you...

it's not cheap, but worth every penny (plus the hefty tip for the amazing guides)...

we have zillions of pictures, but the only one i found on this computer is this one - you see the size of the fish DD caught.
She and DS are sitting at the front of the boat..

We'll be in WDW Aug 19th-29th. My sons (11 & 13) have really gotten into fishing and want to pick up some gear at Walmart and try a couple of spots. We're staying at Pop, so will probably check out Hourglass Lake, and also plan on trying POR and FW. Can anyone recommend any spots at these Resorts that might be worth trying? Thanks very much for any advise!

I agree with Disneyholic, great experience, especially when my boys, now in hs and college, were a little younger.

We did a fishing excursion from the Contemporary about 2 years ago. Neither my husband or I had EVER gone fishing and we didn't know the first thing about it. My oldest child has always been fascinated by fishing and was begging to go. We figured this was a good compromise! We had a fantastic experience. It was my husband and me and our 3 children who were 7, 5, and 3 at the time. The guide was wonderful with the kids and brought everything from cold drinks to bait. He was super knowledgeable and helpful. Each child got an opportunity to catch some fish. We would definitely do it again!
