We are booked in to the polynesian for our March vacation and my DD really wants to surprise her dad and go fishing at disney with him. They love fishing together :)

Just wondering if anyone has ever done the fishing excursion and what is best time to go?? I am thinking of booking it our pool day and then doing breakfast at Ohana's afterwards so wondering if 7am is best time to go???

any advice would be great!
Thanks

We fished on our last trip but we stayed at Ft Wilderness, however, you will be happy to know that we actually fished right near the Poly part of the time. We did the early morning as we wanted to be fishing while the light was low because the fish usually bite better when it isn't the bright part of mid day. We left Ft. Wilderness and our Captain took us across Bay Lake and into the Seven Seas Lagoon -- first stop was the dock where the big Ferry Boats come in and out, since we were there before they were running it was a great spot and time and we caught several fish there. We then moved over and fished between the Poly and the GF and as soon as Seven Seas Lagoon started waking up we crossed back to Bay Lake and fished around Discovery Island and the area used to be River Country. We concluded by dropping our last shiner under the dock in the shade over at Ft. Wilderness where my brother-in-law caught the largest bass of his life - 8lbs and 7ozs. We took pics of it and had a fiberglass replica mount made of it. I highly recommend it. BTW, while fishing between Poly and GF I caught a rare species -- a Sony Handycam -- I kid you not, I snagged a camera!

Go at 7am you'll have a better chance catching fish. We've done the excursion 3 times at Crescent Lake(Epcot resort area) and we have caught a ton of bass and big ones. If you do the early trip on Crescent Lake they'll take you into Epcot to fish before the WS opens. We have a full boat when we fish(5) and we've caught 37, 49 and 18 bass on the 3 trips. They will come pick you up at the Poly dock and take you over to the CR so you don't have to get there yourself. Its fun and we'll probably do it every trip from now on. Also there is a 20% off coupon in Birnbaum's Walt Disney World 2015.

I agree that 7 am is the best time to go. My family has been out of ft wilderness twice. We are booked to go out of poly on 9/15. Hoping it's good!

Not to hijack,
So to get the World Showcase experience, you just book the early Crescent Lake one?
Also, did you pay in advance?

Yes, if you book Crescent lake for 7am you'll be on the lake inside the world showcase before it opens, this is the only one this is the case for. It's been on my list to do just for that reason.

Just wanted to mention for those who don't know - all fishing excursions at Disney World are catch and release. Didn't want someone to click on the thread and think they were going to be able to take home a Disney World fish and mount it on a board :)
