Fishing at resorts?

I read online that you can do dockside fishing at some of the resorts and was wondering if anyone knows if this is allowed at the YC/BC and if so, are there rules? Is there a fee? Any other information I should know about? We don't want an excursion, but my parents are meeting us for a few days and my Dad would love to bring his fishing rod and take our girls by the water and fish for a little while. Thank you!

I do know that they have fishing excursions at the YC resort but I don't think you are allowed to fish on your own. Friends of ours were looking to do the same thing as your Dad at the GF in 2008 and they were told no. Sorry.

With the Friendship boats docking at the YC/BC dock, my guess is no dock side fishing there. Too much traffic.

There's cane pole fishing at POR, and no one stopped me when I was fishing in the canals around Old Key West. Maybe I just was not caught! The DTD boat passed me a few times. I've seen on other websites, but nothing official, the you can fish at Ft Wilderness and POR docks.

I'm sure it's possible to just rent a boat and throw in a line.
