Fishing,accelerating modifying and MEP

I want to make sure I understand the following concept and I’m hoping someone can confirm: if I book a LL at 7:30am with a return time of 8:30am, the window to book a new LL is at 9:30am. If I modify that LL and keep pushing the time back, let’s say until 1:00pm, my window to book a 2nd LL remains at 9:30am? So modifying the LL doesn’t push the booking window for the 2nd LL back at all?
That is correct. However, if you cancel a LL your booking window resets to two hours after you make a new LL. Always, always modify rather than cancel a LL!

It is my understanding that the bar codes for the LL passes are all the same and basically just refer to your ticket. At least, it was true at one point. I didn’t check last week when we were there.
But is it the same code for the MEPs too?
If so that’s a change they’ve made since we were there last. I’ll have to ask my son what he noticed — he was there a few weeks ago. I didn’t think to ask if the LL\MEP issues got better.

It was really aggravating when the system “chose” the MEP instead of the scheduled LL (or even ILL for another guest we saw).
Happened to us twice before the CM told us the “workaround”. Another time we didn’t know an MEP had been added to our ticket until some of us had already scanned in, so we didn’t know it was there to get used. In the end DGD wanted to go back on the same ride again anyway, so we just got right back in line.

I guess keeping up with app changes is a never-ending race. The developers probably feel the same way about needed updates & improvements. 🤪

There was one minor clarification to the “modifying your LL time will not change the time you can book your next one” that I noticed on this trip.

I happened to make an LL reservation for a ride that was going to be open in like 15 minutes. The time the app said I could make my next LL was in 75 minutes (immediately after the LL would have expired). I ended up modifying it to a different ride with an LL time far off into the future and saw that the time for my next LL was adjusted so it would be two hours from the original booking. I wasn’t intending to try it but realized they guarded against that “hack” 😉

I am not sure about the bar code but I can say that multiple times in this trip we had an MEP and also a valid LL and when we used our MagicBands to tap into our valid LL, it was used and not the MEP.

I'm a little confused. Did you book the originally lightening line 15 before it was available? Say 1015, at 10am? And your next time one was available to book at 1115? But then you rebooked for say 1pm but were able to book the next one at noon?

FYI MEP tips:

If holding multiple MEP groups (Gold, Silver, etc) you can scan using the ticket barcodes, or Magic Band and the app will know what to scan and pull from first automatically.

In the past (before Premier LL), when you had an MEP for an attraction, say Space Mountain, you were able to book the same attraction again and the return time did not mean a thing (accelerate LL), you can scan at anytime, and the app would pull the Space Mountain LL and not the MEP. That no longer exists.

DO NOT scan regular LL early when holding an MEP. Depending on what tier of MEP you hold it can pull from that instead of your LLMP. If it happens, then go to a blue umbrella Guest Services CM and they can add the MEP back into your app account.

Yep. These are example numbers, but essentially
  1. 10:00am book 10:15am-11:15am
  2. Next available LL booking time in apl displays as 11:15 because that is the end of the next reserved LL
  3. Change mind, book a different ride via modification for a 11:30am-12:30pm LL
  4. Next available LL booking time changed to 12:00 (2 hours out from original booking)
The rule is you can book:
  • 2 hours after booking the LL or
  • When you check in to your LL or
  • When your LL expires
Whichever comes soonest. Most people don’t talk about that last point and the system will update the “next available booking time” if your LL is modified in the scenario described above.

Piggybacking off this discussion:

How does this timing window apply if I am stacking LLs for later in the day?

For example, I tap in to DCA at 7:30 am and grab my first LL for Guardians, then modify it to midafternoon. When I book my second LL at 9:30 am, I pick Incredicoaster for 9:45 and ride it immediately.

Can I book my third lightning lane at 9:45 after tapping in to Incredicoaster? I feel like yes, but I was just there last summer, tried to do this, and messed it up somehow, so I am not feeling confident about my ability to navigate the system again this time.
