Of all the codes available for Dollar, the codes FVG and FISH are providing the most significant savings. FVG comes from the Florida Vacation Guide. The origins of FISH is unknown. Inquiring Minds wanted to know. So the Legend investigated.
It seems that FISH is more mysterious than one could imagine. I sent the following e-mail to Dollar to find out the source and requirements of this most secret of promo codes ... Names have been removed to protect the innocent ...
For the budget wary of us, I would try both FISH and FVG on the Dollar site and go with one that gets the best rate. Unfortunately for Dollar, National with the DC coupon and code is better but I do like their range of vehicles.
Dollar do have fastlane for free (express service) but I think it pales in comparison to Emerald club (which is also free via DC) - Having the chance of getting an SUV, convertible, minivan or at the worse, the car we booked from Emerald Aisle is too tempting to pass up. Plus with the entertainment book there is also a chance of class upgrades ...
Hope this helps!

Here is the response I received today ...Hi Dollar!
My name is *** and I am writing from *** enquiring about Dollar promo codes.
My brother and I are planning a trip to Walt Disney World in September and are looking to rent a car for our 11 night stay. On advice from our friends in the US, we have been told to book on-line and use the promo code FISH. Which we did and liked the rate provided.
My question is: Do we qualify for the FISH code? As a foreigner, I do not know the source of this code and have only used it on advice of friends. Is special membership required etc?
Is there any thing we will need to bring to the counter when picking up the car (Please remember we are coming from overseas so if a coupon or voucher is required, we will most likely not have access to it)
Are there any restriction on this code (eg Internediates only etc) and what are the valid dates?
Are there better codes/rates availible that we could use in confidence?
We are looking toward an intermediate or full size with pickup/dropoff from MCO from Sept 20 to Oct 1. Obviously we are looking to save as much money as possible and would appreciate any advice given.
Kindest Regards,
***
So the code is safe to use but as I have mentioned on other threads, the promo code FVG is providing the same rates at the moment. HOWEVER I should mention that FISH has been running since last year and does not seem to have any expiry date, class restrictions or location restrictions as it works equally well for us out of MCO and LAX for both intermediate and convertibles. A more versatile code I have not seen!Dear ***,
That promotion does not require any coupons or vouchers. Just book it with that code and you will receive the rate. That does seem to be the best rate available for those dates at this time. We can only guarantee the rates at time of reservation. You might want to go ahead and book the car, then just keep checking on the inernet periodically to see if we are running any specials that would be lower.
