Fish Extender gift ideas -- for the not-so-crafty cruiser

Great ideas, everyone!

I'm probably going to do some Canadian themed stuff, maybe a chocolate (nut free) bar, and other fun and/or useful knick knacks, and I think I'm going to try a teensy bit of craftiness (which for me is limited to what I can make on a computer) :surfweb:

Good idea about buying it when we get there (we're flying in), I wAs considering doing that, but I wanted to get some local things and also I'm a (far ahead) planner so I think it would stress me out to wait until we get there to do it.:faint:

Would it be tacky to use some of the items we have left over from last year's DCL House Party as FE gifts? :confused3

I'm not trying to be cheap, I still have a bunch of recipe cards and scrapbooking paper left over from the party, and I'd figured people on a Disney cruise might actually want these things. Of course I'd get something different for the kids, but I thought maybe these would be good for the moms. What do y'all think?

Thanks!

I love that idea! I am a crafty person, and would love some of those goodies. I actually laminated a few of the drink recipes from the Castaway Club portion of DCL and gave with our adult FE. Check out our FE gifts and you can see what I mean. I say use them...I would appreciate!

BealsRwe - love your FE gifts. I purchased some little totes with the same sort of thing in mind. How did you personalize them? What did you use? Thanks Tracey:flower3:

SPOILER ALERT - If you are on the Magic on October 30, 2010 and don't want to know what you are getting...turn back now!

Using some suggestions from this thread, I "made" these for my FE gifts from VistaPrint:

I used the same image to make magnets for each stateroom and business cards with a tip chart on the back.

I am also making some magnetic bookmarks with the same image, once I get my order from ArtsCow.

I ended up doing "cruise kits"... each kit included a small first aid kit (less than a dollar each at Target), two clothes pins, post it notes, highlighter, a DCL recipe card (left over from the DCL House Party), and then cabins with kids got a few other assorted goodies.... such as a mini beach ball or pirate tattoos (or stickers).

Another newbie here! I know that you sign up with your cruise meet thread but do you do that like within a few months of the cruise or longer? I love the FE idea and can't wait to start making stuff. I am just wondering how soon I would know about how many rooms to buy for and what ages of people?:confused3 I love the idea also of bringing stuff from your state. All your ideas are wonderful.:thumbsup2

Funny, I had thought of the mini kits of goodies too..... I leave soon and definitely have to make some sort of decision. I already did some door magnets so I have some sort of start anyway.

Awesome thread! No craftiness here, but looking forward to the fun of planning a thoughtful FE.

Bump,
I bought my first FE gift item today!:cool1: I plan on about 1 a month for the next year unless I find great deals of course.:thumbsup2

Speaking of kicking yourself.... my Target had the Toy Story dry erase boards w/ marker. I bought one for us.... but then thought it would be a great FE gift. So I went back to Target, but now they only have the "Dora the Explorer" version. Shucks!!!

I saw some Disney themed ones at Party City the other day. I think they were 99 cents each. In a pinch they would be a good place to find items, since they stock all kinds of goody bag items.

Just back from the Disney Store at the mall here and purchases some of the reusable bags (like the grocery store) for $1.49. Great gift alone or put some extras in it! All my store had however was Princesses so I'm still on the hunt for one for the boys!

Yes. How soon will I know how many to buy for on our March Dream cruise? Should I just start randomly purchasing things blindly, or wait until a few weeks before our cruise?

Target now has the Phineas and Ferb dry erase boards and journals in the $1 section.

I just did the same thing for our 4 night wonder this past week. Really wish I had seen yours before I ordered mine. I love how you put the ports and dates on the back side.

I was able to get Star Wars dry erase boards, writing pads, and Darth vader and C3P0 stress balls at Target yesterday too - all in the $1 section.
