Firsts, Fourths, and Farewells (4/28 Back to the Future!)

After an unsuccessful flying lesion with Goofy, it was time to check out Mickey’s Country House for the last time.
I’ve always thought it was interesting that the backstory here suggests that Mickey and the gang spend their vacations here in Toontown Fair but they actually live in Disneyland’s Toontown.

And with the whole Fair scheduled for demolition so the Circus can come to town, we decided to took an in depth tour of each of the houses.
First up – the Big Cheese.
Let’s take a look a farewell look at Mickey’s Country House:

The first room up is Mickey’s Bedroom.
And there are a ton of details in here!
From the pictures of a young Mickey playing ball and earning his ears in scouts, this room is definitely one of the most fun in the house.
Take a look!
His tux and gloves are all ready to go!

Disney2011DayEight115.jpg

In the hallway, Mickey left some mail out.
I wonder what Woody, Buzz, and Ariel are up to?
Ummmm - is that package from Peter Pan ticking?

Disney2011DayEight119.jpg

The living room is next up with some neat trophies of the gang’s adventures – or should I say mis-adventures.
Disney2011DayEight120-2.jpg

Disney2011DayEight120-3.jpg

Disney2011DayEight120-4.jpg

I love the pictures of the gang building Donald’s Boat as well.
And then you can see the big shark that took a big bite out of it (which is conveniently the entrance for the kids).
And then the Shark himself holding up his Donald Trophy!!

Disney2011DayEight121-5.jpg

The game room is next up.
The walls are decorated with the favorite teams of the gang as well as action shots of our pals playing all sorts of sports.
The furniture also has highlights from the local school teams – Goofy Tech, Mousechusetts, and Duckburg University…

Disney2011DayEight122-2.jpg

Disney2011DayEight122-3.jpg

Disney2011DayEight126.jpg

Apparently we’ve arrived in the middle of a big Ping Pong tournament complete with snacks and customized paddles.
Poor Donald still hasn’t gotten on the board.

Disney2011DayEight129.jpg

The kitchen is next up and this one is a doozy.
It seems that the boys have entered a kitchen remodeling contest.
I only hope that things will turn out much better than the mess they currently made.
They’ve even tracked footprints all over!
I hope Mickey doesn’t see this…

Disney2011DayEight137.jpg

Disney2011DayEight137.jpg

Outside, we find good ol’ Pluto’s house.
In addition, Mickey has created some interesting inventions for his garden.
He’s been trying to grow some prize vegetables for the Toontown Fair.
Maybe he’ll win a blue ribbon!
I think he has a shot with that Maximus Ketchipicus and those insanely large pumpkins!
And apparently he wears his MouseGosh overalls when gardening.

While Mickey invited us into the Judge’s Tent, we decided to head through the garage instead.
We already met Mickey and wanted to check out the cool Craftsmouse tools and books he has stored away.
Check out what Mickey’s been reading…

Disney2011DayEight146-1.jpg

Disney2011DayEight147.jpg

Check this novel out – Disney made a short out of it.
Does this little blue car look like anyone you know?
Maybe another cute little blue car with a name that starts with “S?”
Sally anyone?

And with that we finished our tour of Mickey’s home away from home.
Before we head next store to his girlfriend’s house, come join us for a detour into Toon Park.
The kids needed to get their wiggles out!

The kids always got a kick of playing in Chip and Dale’s park.
Granted, it was designed for the little ones, but our bigger kids liked climbing and showing off.

I assume this is Chip and Dale’s house in the park but I was never quite sure.
Anyway, looks like DS is now King of the Mountain…

Disney2011DayEight152-8.jpg

The boys continued to play but J and I took the princess next store to see how the girl mice live in Toontown.

As much as I like the new Fantasyland and Storybook Circus, I still miss Toon Town. So nostalgic. I hope it ends up in a museum somewhere - just one room of Mickey's house!

I don't know. It looks nothing like their Tree House that's in Disneyland.

True - but this is their vacation home so maybe it's a real house?
Or maybe I'm just making this up as I go. :confused3

It will be missed but it wasn't something we visited often.
I am anxious to see the New Fantasyland as I expect we'll be spending much more time there.
Then again, I imagine Storybook Circusland will be similar to Toontown in that it will be host to lots of kids and few adults.
I imagine that as kids gets older, Circusland will be the place they stop visiting.

I love that the parks have places where the kids can just unwind and play and be kids. From the cute pics it looks like they had fun :)

As much fun :yay: as the attractions in New Fantasyland are :woohoo: (eat yer heart out that I got to see it before the Capell Five, nyah ), I don't expect that you'll spend THAT much time there. I would think no more than about an hour or so on any given day you're in that land, excluding how much time it takes to get into and eat at Be Our Guest.

As for Storybook Circus, there isn't a huge amount there, either. Dueling Dumbos, Goofini, the photo ops inside the big tent, and a small splash park. So, yeah, unlikely the older set will be inclined to spend much time there.

At least your "secret path" to Tomorrowland still exists, though.

Gotta love the "secret path"! :cool1:

Minnie’s House, as a princess might suspect, is all done in pinks and pastels with flowers and hearts wherever you can add them.
Needless to say, our princess was in heaven…

Inside you enter into the living room.
Minnie has lots of pictures of her family as well as famous mice throughout history.
Apparently she is really interested in mouse genealogy.
Who knew?

Minnie’s cabinet is full of statues representing the buildings in Toontown – her house, Mickey’s House, and Donald’s Boat – complete with the residents that live there!
She did such a good job making them, you can see her Grand Prize ribbon!

Disney2011DayEight162-2.jpg

Disney2011DayEight162-3.jpg

Disney2011DayEight162-4.jpg

Minnie also won ribbons on her sculptures, pottery, and quilts.
She likes to use her friends as models.
This is apparently one talented mouse!

Disney2011DayEight164-3.jpg

Her walls are covered with classic portraits as we well as many magazine covers in frames to commemorate articles about her and her friends.
I don’t think I ever realized that Minnie was famous all on her own.
Mickey was one lucky mouse!
Minnie was also a painter herself and she even caught a perfect view of Goofy’s famous crash into the water tower from her window.
I think she painted the perfect picture!

Next, we decided to check Minnie’s messages since she wasn’t home.
Check the bulletin board and you can see that Minnie was one busy mouse.

Disney2011DayEight175.jpg

Minnie’s kitchen is definitely more in order than Mickey’s.
In fact, she even left a little treat for anyone who might happen to stop by.
Let’s have some of her “diet” cookies…

Disney2011DayEight183.jpg

While we waited for our hostess to reappear, we decided to make a not-so-diet snack.
First, we tried to pop some popcorn.
Then we figured we’d finish the cake Minnie was baking for Mickey…

Disney2011DayEight187.jpg

Disney2011DayEight188.jpg

Next, we headed outside onto the patio.
Let’s check out how great a gardener this fair mouse is.
I see Daisies, Blue Bells, Buttercups, Tiger Lillies, Dandelions, and Twolips.
That Super Toon Plant Food must really work!

Here is a lovely spot to sit and relax and enjoy a day in Toontown.

And with that, we headed back into Toontown.
It was time to turn from Mice to Ducks...
Come sail with us!

Great tribute to Minnie's house. I love how accomplished she is :)
You took a lot of great pics but my favorite is the very last one. The princess looks adorable :cutie:

The official "pithy saying a year" calendar! :rotfl2: That's awesome!

I have to say that you did an absolutely fantastic job with these pictures. There are so many wonderful details that I never notice. Like the hand tree! :rotfl: I wonder where all the stuff from both houses is now? It belongs in a museum. Did I already say that last time? :confused3

I didn't realize just how many pics we took, either. Wow! Nice to look through them again. :thumbsup2

I think we went a bit overboard knowing that this was the last time we'd ever see this stuff.
Someone had to preserve it for the archives, right?
