I just read the hot hot hot August thread. How is the first week of October? It can;t be as hot and humid then, can it? Also is it supposed to be less crowded but with free dining, we can expect crowds, correct?

Last year we went the end of Novemeber and the weather was perfect. I eve had to drink hot cocoa at the MVMCP one night to warm up! I already bought mini fans for me and the kids, DH doesn't need one. I need to see if our misting fan bottles are all still in one piece.

We've gone the first week of October and had a couple of hot and HUMID days. The rest of the week was better but still HOT -IMHO. Still though, I don't think it was as bad as when we went in August.
-I should mention I'm from NJ. I think where you're from has alot to do with how much heat & humidity you can stand.
We went 2 years ago before the free food plan and we had low crowds. Hope it's not TOO bad this year. We'll be at the POR Sept.30-Oct.7 :Pinkbounc

the crowds may be a bit higher becasue of the food and wine festival IN ADDITION TO free dining!

DH and used to love Oct- bit i have noticed over the past few years- the festival has been getting much more crowded, now you add the free dining w/ the festival foodies- not sure what to expect!

we now going for Sept to check out the "low" crowd situation, i am crossing my fingers!

Holy crud, those ar ethe exact date's I'm going :P (Staying at CSR though)

Hi! We went Oct.6-14 2005 and we're from Oregon..... so that means----- That we thought it was VERY VERY HUMID!! Our kids even said that they felt "weird" when we got off the plane?!?!?!

This was our first trip to WDW (since 1992, when hubby and I were kids)--So, we technically have nothing to really compare it to. But, we thought the wait time for some things was pretty LONG (30-45 min.).

I guess it all depends on what you can tolerate!

We don't do good in humidity and the humidity makes us all a bit cranky, therefore we didn't like waiting in long lines!!

DID THAT ALL MAKE SENSE?? :) :) :)

Last year we were there from Sept 28 - Oct. 3(Mon). Very hot and humid, in the high 90's every day. We're from Texas, so we're used to hot, but the humidity was really uncomfortable, but it would depend on what you were used to.

Crowds were non-existant Wed. - Friday. Fastpass machines were closed. No more than 10 minute wait for Haunted Mansion, Splash, literally walked on to Pirates, Small World, Thunder, Buzz (3 times in a row, no wait, none at all). 10 minute wait for Soarin, none for Test track. Walked on to RNR, Star Tours, but MGM got heavier in the pm (Sat). Sunday got really heavy FP's for Soarin were "sold out" by the afternoon, and by early evening there was a 90 minute wait for Soarin and Test Track, and Monday we could barely walk in MK, and most of the rides had 90 minute wait times by noon. Someone told us "fall break" started the first week of Oct. in some states, and with the jump in crowds, I believe it. You may want to check on when it is this year.

Thanks for the info. We are hoping to be at WDW the second week in October.
We closed on May 25th and are waiting to get into the system to make reservations.
Hope there is a place for us. We can do The Food and Wine Fest at Epcot and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween, too.

We were there Oct. 1st- 9th last year and let me tell you- it was HUMID! Parks were a little busy also. Take your time, drink plenty of water, keep your ponchos handy (it rained off and on quite a bit too) and you'll do fine.

DS and I will be there those same dates. Staying at POP! Have a fantastic trip.

No, no, you don't want to go then. In fact, nobody go the first two weeks of october. *glances at signature countdown timer* :rolleyes1

We're also crossing our fingers for the crowds not to be too bad. We'll be there October 1-6 staying at BCV and maybe October 6-8 at another resort. Not too worried about the heat, we're used to it!

Last Oct. we had one night where the air cooled down, but you cool feel the heat and humidity rising from the ground. Since the humidity had nowhere to go, it was as they say, like soup. Still better than August.
