With so many people re-scheduling their sept. trips due to Irma, I was wondering what people on the Dis felt like the first week in Oct. looked like. We are less than two weeks out, have ADRs and FP+ booked but where not going in with a game plan and now am regretting my decision. Worried that it will be summer crowded. The last time we went in Oct. there was the Government shutdown and many people came to WDW instead of going other places and it was insane. We were hoping for a better situation this time. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.

As many others on the DIS have pointed out.... this October should be a perfect storm of insanity:

  • Food and Wine Festival
  • Halloween Party
  • Conventions
  • School Fall Breaks for most US schools
  • Cheerleading competition

Crowds are predicted to be very heavy.

Good luck with your touring plan and try to have a great time!

Our experience with the first week of October is crowds build as the week progresses.
Do as much as possible close to arrival, and don't plan on as much late in the week, and you will be fine.

I'll be there over Columbus Weekend. As long as you go into it realizing it's going to be busy and planning accordingly, you'll be fine. Also, don't be afraid to change your plans on the go. Be flexible.

We're going on Columbus Day weekend and I expect it to be quite busy. We typically make that particular weekend one of our times to visit since our son is out for Columbus Day. it's busy but doable with a plan. I'd rather be at Disney when it's busy rather than not at all so we brave the crowds and have fun!

I'll be there that week - 3-7. However much faith you put into crowd calendars, it honestly doesn't look bad until the weekend. I've got a good plan in place everyday, and we're going to have a great trip no matter what the crowds look like.

I went during the week of Columbus Day (Oct 6-Oct 13) and didn't find crowds to be too bad. I realize this will be different because of some rescheduling, but if you have a general plan you should be fine. We went to Epcot on Columbus Day and the lines for the F&W booths were a little long but overall the crowds weren't awful.
