First Week of May Busy?

Other than the Flower and Garden show going on at Epcot is there another big event the first week of May? I was able to book a room at Boardwalk with AAA discount through DU for that time period but was told Yacht Club and Beach Club were both full. Maybe just no discounted rooms? On the Disney site only Concierge seems to be available for that week.

Any ideas? Thought this would be a slower time, after all the spring breaks and Easter. Just wondering if I'll have to deal with crowds.

I go this time every year. Crowds are light to moderate. The temps are ok, mid to upper 80s during the day and mid 60s at night.

I am not sure, but The Star Wars weekends do start around that time at MGM Studios. I don't think that would make a huge difference in crowds.

Usually this is a good time of year to go because kids are back in school from Spring Break and Summer vacation has not started.

I used to go this time every year until I couldn't pull the kids from school anymore. I love this time of year. The crowds are much lighter and the weather is beautiful. Star Wars weekend is every weekend
in May, but I wouldn't think that it is reason for the other resorts being booked. Maybe there is some kind of convention going on. I wouldn't
worry about it. I am now forced to go in the summer but I would definitely recommend May.

If you're not a Star Wars fan, just avoid the Studios on the weekends!

Just hang out here and you'll find out!

Also, if you can get a good AP rate on concierge, go for it!

If you're using DU, they will get those discounted rates when they are released, also!

We were there the 1st week of May last year. During the day the crowds weren't bad. However I wanted to give you a heads up that we had some problems due to crowds in the late afternoon/evening. MK closed early several times for grad nights and one night Epcot was the only park open because of grad night and a private event at MGM. I guess since the overall attendance is down during this time it's a good time for Disney to offer these ticket only events.

we were there in May of 2003 from the 2 til the 16th the crowds were fine it was alot hotter than usual they say it is usually comfortable and nice but it was in the 90's every day when we were there but it was still fine I mean everything has air conditioning and pools every where
we had a great time the lines were pretty small and we never didnt go on anything because of crowds the parades were alittle crazy at MK everyone coming to that park I think we did camp out for those spots and people are so rude when it comes to that trying to squeeze in and blocking of huge sectiosn with carriage that was the only frustrating thing I encountered while there

I thought this would be a good time to go crowd and weather wise, but when I saw what looks like full resorts I wondered what was going on.

I know I'll have a great time no matter what. It is WDW afterall, right?

The Yacht Club is a convention hotel, they are probably have a large convention that booked all the rooms. It may only be 1 or 2 nights of your dates but blocks you out. That happened to me last fall, I wanted Oct 1 to 6, all the Epcot resorts were booked for Oct 1 because of a convention, Oct 2 was wide open. Too bad I already bought plane tickets for Oct 1. I didn't want to switch hotels on a short stay.
