As many have said we so much enjoy reading other trip reports that we can't resist writing our own. So without further delay, here's mine.

There's 3 of us.

Myself, my wife and our beautiful 4 1/2 yr old daughter who is always ready for a good time and lives for the moment. In this trip report I'll call her A1 since it became apparent during our trip that her favorite character and princess is Aurora. For the past couple of months we've been telling A1 about our trip to Disney but being 4yrs old she really never knew when we were leaving. All she knew and told everyone we were going to Disney and going to meet Aurora, Mickey, Peter Pan, etc... Oh, and btw, my wife's favorite character is Eeyore (don't ask cause I don't know either) so I'll call my wife E1 throughout this report. Fortunately, she's liked Eeyore all her life so it has nothing to do with me. Eeyore is best described as "an old grey donkey".

I'll include picts thoughout this report but since we just returned it's going to take us a few days to organize all the picts. Also, throughout this report I'll include a few personal tips that we learned for our next trip. I call them personal tips because while they will help us for our next trip they (hopefully) will help others but they also may not help others. Take them or leave them as is.

E1 and I really put thought and planning into when we wanted to go to Disney. Since E1 is in pre-school it makes it easy to get her out of school whenever we want. We decided that a couple weeks after Easter and a few weeks before kids get out of school was the perfect time. It turned out that the crowd level was low (at least to our expectations) and the weather was sunny and high 80's each day. Also, since E1 received a pretty nice bonus from work in January '07 this Disney trip was sort of a spur of the moment trip. We left Tuesday, May 1st and returned Saturday, May 5th (Cinco de Mayo & E1's birthday) Keep that in mind for later!

We decided to stay at the Polynesian. After doing extensive research mostly on this board we thought that we all would like the Poly the best. A1 loved the pools. Surprisingly A1 loved the "quiet" pool the most. She's not swimming yet so the opportunity to float with E1 and myself without being splashed was the best. A1 did go down the volcano slide ONCE with me but not again. She was too afraid after the first time.

Tip - E1 and I agreed that it was worth every penny to stay at a deluxe resort and being on the monorail line. It certainly made getting around very convenient AND if anyone has ever watched Illuminations from MK at ~9pm and then fireworks you know how long it CAN take to get out of there. Well, since we were able to take the monorail back to the poly we got back in about 40 minutes TOTAL. I thought for sure it was going to take up to 2 hours.

Stay tuned for Day 1!

Can't wait to hear about your trip. We're taking DD5 for her first time this October so I want to hear your tips and such. Hopefully they WILL help us out :thumbsup2 Looking forward to it!

Looking forward to reading more:thumbsup2 You did pick a good time to go,. We use to always go at that time, until the kids started getting older and too much school was missed.

Thanks schmoopypoo & sunlver. I've already added one tip to my original post that I forgot to include.

I can't wait to hear more...it sound like you had a wonderful trip! Love to see your pictures.

Count me in! Can't wait to hear about your trip!

DAY 1

We flew into Orlando around 1pm (on 5/1) and arrived to the Polynesian around 2:30. Not bad. We did take a while at check-in but most of that was my fault. I secretly (from E1) upgraded our room from a garden view room to a MK view room for E1's birthday. E1's Bday was on 5/5 (the day we were leaving) so I felt it would be nice to do things for her during the week. She loved the idea and the view.

Tip - we learned that while it was nice to have a MK view room the next time we visit the Poly the garden view room was plenty good enough for us and we would save ~$150/night.

Us at the Poly!

After check-in we planned to quickly visit our room and then go to MGM for "Voyage of the Mermaid". My wife and I put together a schedule for our 5 days of activities which included advanced dinner reservations (ADR's) and which and when we'd be at the parks. See below for a copy of the sreadsheet. I removed the confirmation #'s for each ADR.

Well, while we were walking to our room we stopped by the infamous volcano pool. That was when E1 and I immediately realized that we will need to be flexible with our park plans ALL WEEK because A1 wanted to spend time at the pool(s). So much for MGM.

Tip - While it was super helpful to have the spreadsheet for the ADR's leave your plans open and be flexible for the parks. A1 had her own plans and we were really at Disney for her.

And plus, it was nice to sort of relax by the pools after traveling rather than begin the run-to-the-parks routine.

By now it was around 6:15pm and we decided to finally go back to our room and get ready for Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary. This was A1's first character dining experience and she loved it. At 4 1/2 yrs old she was not afraid of the characters at all. When she was 3 she was terrified of Santa but fortunately not now.

Tip - Most already know this but if you have young kids you should certainly plan on doing at least one character dining but be sure to make reservations (1-407-939-3463) months in advance.

The dinner was buffet style and I'd rate the quality of food as a 6 or 7 out of 10 (decent to good). The overall experience was an 9 out of 10 since A1 loved meeting Mickey for the first time. The characters do a great job of coming to each table while you eat. The kids just have to have patience since it takes a little while before they may get to your table. The characters will spend enough time with each table to get autographs and pictures.

By now it's about 9:00pm so it was time to make it back to our room at the Poly for a decent night sleep for a long day tomorrow. Oh yea, again i say, taking the monorail and not a bus back to the Poly from the Contemporary was awesomely convenient. Got back in about 10 to 15 minutes.

That's it for now. I may make additional modifications to Day 1 as I think of them.

Stay tuned for Day 2....

Hey, you can't leave us hanging, a guy with a spreadsheet has to have time to come back an tell us the rest of his story.

Hi, thanks for the interest. I'm hoping to get back into updating soon. My concentration was a bit thrown off for a few weeks due to my DW and DD4 being in a car accident. Don't worry, they are ok, although I can't say the same for our 2000 Explorer. It was totalled. An idiot ran a red light and plowed into the side of our truck. Thank God they were in our truck and not my car. They could have been seriously hurt. DW is still going to PT but is being told that within a few weeks the neck and back soreness should subside. DW is much happier since I/we bought her a brand spankin new 2007 Honda Pilot w/DVD video player for DD4. :happytv:

Don't worry, I'll get back into finishing my trip writing soon. I hope I haven't forgotten too much.

Wow, I'm so sorry for your family. I hope everything turned out okay. Hope to hear from you as when everything has settled down.

Very scary...glad your wife and DD are alright.

Great report so far. It is great you can stay at a reort with a monorail. Been taking my DD since 2 and never stayed at one. But this trip we can walk to Epcot...which is her favorite park.

What a cutie your DD is!!
