It has worked this way for all the hotels I have ever stayed in and ordered room service, including hotels in NYC.

Me too - although it does seem to vary on the quantity of food trays in the hallways - depends on tourist or business (in my experience, business travelers on an expense account order more room service), what time of day you hit the hallways (no one has their tray out if you are leaving at 6:00am - but at 10:30 before the tray cart comes through, the hallways seem littered with trays).

Hotels do this for efficiency. Its much cheaper to send one cart around at 11:00 to pick up all the breakfast trays from the hallway than to send someone up to pick them up individually from the rooms. And leaving them in the rooms is an option that the hotel and the room service ordering guests aren't happy with - from the hotels point of view it adds steps to the process of picking up the tray, and from the guests point of view, someone is entering their room (and the hotel and guests would like to keep that to a minimum - neither the hotel nor the guest enjoys housekeeping in a room as the guest steps out of the shower).

There is an easy solution for anyone offended by trays in the hallway - OKW does not have hallways or room service - which should minimize the number of trays.

#3-Walk to the MK and the AK???

I dont want to be snippy here....but your complaints seem a bit trivial if you are using them as reasons that it ruined your trip....these would seem more like annoyences then trip killers...30 minutes at the front desk seems long, but only by 15 minutes or so....and none of us really know what your definition of a "tremendous" amount of food....my experience is that there have ben times when there was a few trays in the hall, but it certainly did not distract from my enjoyment.....and why not walk to the parks. It is possible that you can not walk through no fault of your own. But all things being equal it seems like a minor inconvenience, and possibly your standards are a bit too high.

Walk to the MK and the AK??? How do you do that?

OK.....I saw the previous identical reply, and I think it can be implied that I am referring to the BOAT portion of the complaint....I will try and be more specific next time

Too bad it didnt work out, oh well, more chance for future reservations for us.

We walked into EPCOT, then out the front entrance, then onto the monorails to the MK, Poly, and Contemporary. We got to our destination much faster than via the buses. Coming back from the AK, I would suggest getting off at the Swan and walking the 5 min back to BWV and you will beat the bus home. I am not saying the bus system for the BWV is good, but there are some options for making the situation better until the bus system is fixed.

Wilderness01: That sounds terrible! Now that is my idea of disappointment. I too had a "delay" at the front desk when getting my Luau tickets and Hoop de Doo tickets (and they do tell you to pick them up at your resort's guest services desk), but nothing like you encountered. It was a girl CM and her printer went on the fritz and she couldn't print out the darn ticket. Then she told me that once a copy is out there even if it didn't print, there is no printing a new one. The system won't allow it. And if I showed up w/o a ticket, the Luau wouldn't let me in. They are very strict about those tickets. I waited for a good 25 min before I finally had both tickets in hand. DH and kiddies were napping at the time and they woke and were wondering what happened to me. But nonetheless, it didn't ruin my trip. She was very apologetic and I deal w/ printers and computers getting nutty on me all the time and figured it was me that jinxed it. We made it to the Luau and HdeD and had a great time and I forgot about my "delay" until you mentioned your situation which sounded horrible.

I agree w/ jodifla and yourself that we shouldn't worry about the little things as much. Stuff like that happens to all of us and, yes, we want a perfect vacation, but things happen and sometimes we need to go w/ the flow and have a good time anyway. Sometimes our little mishaps lead us to something great. It rained for 10 out of the 11 days we vacationed at the GF in WDW 6 yrs ago, and my DH and I figured it was like a second honeymoon and spent the entire stay playing boardgames in the main bldg, eating late breakfasts in the Concierge lounge while reading the morning papers, listening to the band playing, getting massages at the spa, and dining at the resort restaurants we could reach by monorail. I laughed sooo much on that trip. We were giddy. We had a marvelous time anyway and wouldn't have done the things we did if it weren't for the buckets of rain coming down. Sometimes when you see the glass as half full, things just magically come around and get better. Even this past trip in Jan-Feb, we were very late to the Luau, missed the beginning of the show and the pictures, but we got the best table in the house and WONDERFUL service. The dancers kept high fiving my little boy. See how things work out! Or how bout this..... Our pilot was late for the first flight out of PA to get to WDW and made us so late that we almost didn't make our 2nd plane. We were driven by cart to the 2nd plane's gate, escorted onto the plane as they carried all of our bags, and upgraded to first class seats w/ no addt'l fee.... all 3 in a row. When we got to Orlando, we figured our bags certainly didn't make it since we barely did and got ourselves prepared for it..... but there they were waiting for us. So if you just relax, go w/ the flow, and smile, I truly think everything works out in the end. IMHO anyway.

To the vast majority of individuals who responded to my original posting in a cogent, succinct and dispassionate manner…thank you for your thoughts. For those of you (and you know who you are) who are simply incapable of removing the emotion from your specious responses, I have some advice—don’t read postings that will obviously be contrary to your personal beliefs and experience regarding the subject resort, theme park or restaurant. You cannot stomach the thought that someone else had an unfavorable personal experience when your individual experiences have been, on balance, completely wonderful.

I have some very bad news for you…it happens…and it happens all the time. As a FL resident who has visited the best family venue on the planet 4-5 times per year for each of the last ten years, I can assure you that we are completely capable of distinguishing a fantastic WDW experience from one that is sub-par. And by the way, we were indeed “utterly disappointed” with our initial BWV visit. Are some of you suggesting that after 45-50 completely satisfactory trips to an exhaustive list of resorts, restaurants and theme parks, perhaps WE are uncertain when WE are indeed “utterly disappointed?”—And maybe YOU know better than WE…and YOU have determined that WE were in fact…completely satisfied with OUR visit!!!

Once again, you have done a tremendous service on behalf of your fellow DVC members. Thank you for transforming my viewpoint and making my family’s initial visit to BWV so enjoyable…even if we were so dense as to not recognize it in the first place!! I now realize that I have much to learn from those of you who have demonstrated such remarkable wisdom and insight. I will be certain to check this Forum often for your next nugget of knowledge.

I'm sorry...... I thought these were discussion boards.... a place where we can converse and give our opinions freely. :chat:

I am sure if we would have known you intended to give a speech, we wouldn't have posted our replies. We'll know for next time! ;)

"I have some advice—don’t read postings that will obviously be contrary to your personal beliefs and experience regarding the subject resort, theme park or restaurant. "

Might not want to read responses either.

CGregoryJr, first just want to say i'm sorry you were disappointed with your first BWV stay. maybe it will be better next time? of course it might be a while before you want to stay at BWV again... that's always how it works when you're disappointed.

however, maybe it's too much to call the stay "utterly disappointing"? it didn't seem so bad...

personally i think my own recent stay at BWV where there was an fire ant infestation in my room + dbf and i were bitten on our hands/arms in our sleep... now THAT is utterly disappointing! :p
and we love BWV too! it's our home resort, and we had 2 wonderful stays there in the past, and do plan to stay there again in the future. hopefully we won't have bad luck and happen to get one of the ant rooms again (they just can't seem to get rid of them for good, spraying just causes the ants to move around to a different room). it just left a bad taste in our mouths re: BWV and we might take a break and visit a different resort next time. heh.

Now, now -- don't go gettin' yer Mouseears in a bunch. :earseek:

What you chose to divulge about your trip may be but small snippets of your total experience. Rather than go on and on about every little detail, perhaps you chose to summarize and simply chalk it up as "utterly disappointing". Fair enough. I tend to go on and on and on with details .... so folks with brevity like you provide balance for folks like me! (And keep servers from gettin' tied up, too).

I think some posters were simply making the comment that your report didn't seem all that bad, that they've heard of worse, given by folks who came away with more positive reports. What bothers me about a trip might not bother someone else, though. That's possible, after all. And we've all heard from the unfortunate souls who set themselves up for disappointment (perhaps planning on a specific room, right down to the number, or for extra magic to come their way just because it's a birthday, or their kid has the flu, or it's Groundhog Day... whatever). THis is NOT to imply you are one of those people... only to say that from a limited post, one would have no real idea that you WEREN'T, either, and since this "prelude to a disappointment" behavior bothers some folks, those folks will invariably vent.

If you say your trip was a disappointment, then it was. We can certainly feel that sentiment in your final post loud and clear. You know, the "cogent" among us are quite capable of picking out the DVC Guardian War Lords (fierce protectors of their resort / WDW/ ideas) all on our own. Where a poster's attitudes are snippy or unwarranted or attempting to rouse a debate, give the rest of us credit for being able to see their posts for what they are... just opinions.... and move on.

Hope your next trip is utterly perfect -- honest! ::yes::

CGregoryJr....don't be offended. You didn't go into too much detail in your post and based purely on the few things you mentioned ...I just wouldn't want a new visitor to read your report and panic that their trip may not be wonderful. We all have our own experiences but I like to help the "newbies" out and give them the bad and the good.

trust me..we have all had our WDW issues/problems ;)
:D

Disney-Kim: That is what I was thinking too. When I was a "newbie" I heard some horror stories. I am sure that some of us just wanted the "newbies" to know that this situation was hopefully the exception to the norm.

Sunan: I second that. Well said gopherit!:)

CGregoryJr: I truly am sorry for your disappointing experience as well. My perfect world would be for everyone to be happy. I know that "things" happen..... I was just trying to see the bright side. :sunny: Hope your next trip makes up for this past one. :goodvibes

To me, OP's need to take the good and the bad responses if they want to start a discussion

::yes::

DGregoryJr,
Not for anything but......I really would not take this approach. This is not the best approach on a Disney discussion board full of Disney addicts! This argument/justification will just not hold water! Especially when you are talking to DVC owners! Going to WDW 4-5 times a year for the last 10 years is nothing out of the ordinary among Disney addicts; and particularly when this mix includes DVC members! You will find many Disney addicts/DVC members that live much farther away from WDW then you do as a FL resident, that go to WDW as much or even more so then you do.
Personally, I would drop this as one of your persuading arguments.

I for one clicked on this thread because I was expecting a horror story. I like reading the horror stories.

The wait was a little much. Big River complaints are nothing new here. The food in the hall is gross but I've seen it at BWV and BCV (haven't seen this at OKW yet) and at all the other Disney deluxes I've stayed at (that's everything but YC and GF). The ones in Polynesian concierge were the worst because of all the lounge food folks were apparently taking back to their rooms to eat later and then not bothering to eat before it got disgusting.

Now THAT's a horror story.
