Hi,

I am new here and need some Walt Disney World help.

My girlfriend and I want to go away to Disney World between Christmas and New Years, but want to do it as reasonable as possible. We will be flying down from Chicago and are trying not to do it with a car if possible.

Any suggestions on nice but reasonable accomidations would be great.

Neither of us have gone before and are kind of novice about this so any help would be great.

Thanks,

Andrew Carr

Start by getting some books and read up! My favorite is Birnbaum's. Staying offsite is much cheaper and there are some that have shuttle service if you choose not to rent a car. You can take a towncar ($80.00 RT) or Meer''s ($50 RT ????) to the onsite resorts and Disney has it's own buses to wherever you wish to go. All Stars resorts are the onsite value resorts.

Thanks. My girlfriend has already gotten a few books and there are so many places that we can stay it's hard to figure out which one to stay at. We have decided that we will only be going to the parks 4 or 5 days out of the 8 that we are in Orlando, so we are looking for a place that has shuttle service, but also has a nice pool.

Thanks,

Andrew Carr

remember that the week between x-mas and new years is the busiest week of the year. WAY busier than ANY other time. If you must go that week, and cannot change your dates, I would suggest staying on site. I think it would be worth paying more for the room when it is that busy. Personally....I would pick a different week to go. But if I absolutely could not change weeks, I would go....because I LOVE disney, and a busy WDW/DLR is better than none at all!!!! Good luck and have fun!OH! and don't forget to check www.mousesavers.com for any deals/specials/codes!;)

I would stay onsite because the hoilday traffic would be a nightmare. Walt Disney World transpoetation is excellent. Then if won't go to US and IOA stay at the Royal Pacific Resort so you can get front of the line privlages. Do Disney first then do US.

It is soooo worth it to stay on site at Universal. We stayed at HRH over thanksgiving weekend last year!!! FOTL saved us! It was great!:p

Hi Andrew and Welcome to the DISboards!

I agree with the other posts about staying onsite during your stay. The week that you've chosen is the busiest time for WDW and the traffic and crowds can be unbelievable.

By staying onsite, you will have the advantage of entering the parks earlier than non-Disney resort guests. You will also not have to sit in traffic, or abide by the hotel shuttle schedule.

The AllStar hotels are Disney's budget hotels. For a couple with no children, I would suggest the new Pop Century or AllStar Music. However, all of the AS resorts are nice. And with a Disney resort, you know what you are getting. Sometimes, it can be a gamble with hotels offsite.

If you must stay offsite, I would advise against any hotel on International Drive. That area will be mobbed during the week you are there and transportation to the parks could be a nightmare. Perhaps one in the Downtown Disney area would be better.
