Hi all,

This will be our first Universal Trip, Mom and DD 13. Our trip is planned for May 30 (travel day) till June 10. Originally planned two days at Universal considering the new Harry Potter park, but now I'm wondering if we really need two days. Do you think we could do Universal and the Harry Potter park in one day if we went from open to close? Just trying to think about costs and all. Also, there is so much to do at Disney, this would give us a day to go to another park, swim or visit the different resorts. Any thoughts???

Any ideas of how crowded it will be during May 30 - June 10?

Also, does anyone know if the gift shops at either park sell Scrapbook stuff such as papers or albums???

Thanks for your help.

Thanks!!

Good morning Kellie,

I have just returned from my very first visit to Universal and Islands of Adventure. My family and I did use two days to visit these parks. Islands of Adventure (which houses the WWOHP) tends to get the most foot traffic as most people are trying to see WWOHP. We were there on a very stormy and rainy day and there was no one, and I mean no one around. Most of the carts were closed and there was no wait for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey (which is the ride inside Hogwarts).

We then conquered Universal on the second day, which had wonderful weather and a little crowd.

We were able to see what we had wanted to see but wished we had more time. Being it is the first visit, you aren't sure of the park layout so that times a little time to figure out where you are going. We are planning on going back to the parks and spending another two days so we have enough time to do what we missed and do the things we enjoyed and wanted to do again.

I say that you can't go wrong by taking two days to hit the parks. The park hopper ticket was also a blessing as we had lunch reservations at IOA and were riding rides at Universal. So, we needed a ticket that would allow us to go between the two parks.

Also, if you have great weather, assume WWOHP will be packed. Even with no crowd, my family and I spend most of our day there. It's amazing to walk around and take it all in. If you have a crowd, you will need even more time.

Hope this helps! :)

2 days is much better, since its 2 parks. Kind of like Magic Kingdom and Epcot. So that would give you an idea of how much there is to do. And the 2 Universal parks are on par with say MK and E, so there are many things you'll want to do. Its not just a boring park with 1 cool new thing Harry Potter, not by a long shot, the parks were on par with Disney before they even added HP, so I would highly recommend doing the 2 days, particularly if you have already done all the Disney parks. You will be pleasantly surprised as to the level of theming and detail. (these parks are not roller coaster type parks, they are true theme parks.)

I cannot agree more! My family and I were pleasantly surprised with the themes of the areas of the parks and how clean the parks are. Everything looked fresh and new. Very well done and we are definitely going back...with 2-day tickets. :thumbsup2

Several years ago we did a Disney trip with a two day side to Universal. Afterward, we really regretted that - two days was not enough to enjoy everything both parks offer. Last year we did six days at Universal, with one day for visiting area relatives - that was the way to do it! We meandered around the parks, spent time at the hotel pool, saw Blue Man Group, even did a MVMCP. And that was before Harry Potter opened.

Definitely need more than a day, especially with WWHP to tour.
