Woke up early but couldnt eat breakfast. The nerves are creeping in now. Mat and Anthony (my son) nip out to get some biscuits for the kids to munch on.
The hair stylist is turning up at 11:15, so I need to have my make-up done by this point. Mat and Anthony are dressed and leave the room at about 11am, so me and Heather can get ready in peace. Mat and Anthony look stunning and I choke back some tears!!
My make up is done, and me and Heather lay out the dresses, shoes, tiaras etc out ready. We put on our jewellery and wait for the hair stylist.
11:15am - No hair stylist yet.
11:25am - Still nothing. Heather asks "are you ok Mum?" I mumble something and light up a cigarette.
11:35am - the ashtray is overflowing now. Where the hell is the hair stylist????
11:40am - she turns up, panicking, saying she had gone to the wrong hotel!! I told her to stop panicking, or she would start me off. She said she was a fast worker and I told her I only wanted my hair straightened.
I was thrilled with the result, but its now 12:05pm and the limo is arriving in 10 mins, and neither me nor Heather are dressed!!
We get changed quickly - and fly out of the room at 12:15pm and rush to reception where Mat is quietly panicking!! The limo is already there.
We climbed inside and it was huge! A TV in the corner, a full bar, although I was so nervous I couldnt drink! Mat told me I looked gorgeous and I nearly started off crying again!
We arrive at Cypress Grove and are met by the wedding co-ordinator there who has our flowers. The colours are perfect. Im wearing a red dress and Heather is in ivory and red. The flowers match well. The photographer and notary explain how things will go.
We go into a room, which has our champagne and cake ready for after the service. The kids, Anthony and Heather, sign the marriage certificate which is a lovely idea.
Mat and Anthony wait down by the gazebo for us. The music starts and I follow Heather down the "aisle" from the house to the gazebo. Its all a bit too much for me now, and I blub uncontrollably!!! We say our vows which was perfect, the words were lovely and I cried through it all.
Then the photos. We upgraded our photo package to have digital photos, so the photographer was able to take loads and loads and chose the best ones for our album.
Back inside the house for the champagne toast and cake. It was all absolutely perfect and if I could work out a way of showing you the photos I would!!
We are back at the QII by 3pm and there is a lovely basket of flowers waiting for us in our room, which my sister had arranged from the UK! So that started me off blubbing again!!
Mat and the kids went for a swim, but I couldnt (cos of my straightened, neat hair!!!!).
Left the QII at 5pm to go to Pirates Dinner Adventure. Complete waste of time and money - but we did have a picture taken there which was good, cos it had our wedding date printed on the bottom, so its a nice photo of our evening.
I would not recommend this Pirates show to anyone. The food was appalling. It was very expensive. The show seems elaborate - but if anyone had a clue what was going on they didnt show it!!!
We had upgraded to front row seats there and the kids were part of the show, which Anthony enjoyed but Heather didnt and she cried when she had to take part!!
But all in all, the day was perfect. I couldnt have wished for a lovelier wedding day.
