First trip to Universal -- please help

Sounds like we'll have to watch the 1 fish 2 fish a bit and see if you can stay dry since there is a mix of opinions on that. :teeth: At Star Tours dd wasn't tall enough for the simulator ride so they put us in a "pod" that was stationary. I was hoping that would be the case for Spiderman, Back to the Future and Jimmy Neutron....or that they wouldn't have height restrictions and she could actually be in the simulator. Anyone else want to weigh in on this??

Anyone have any input on Earthquake, Jaws, Men In Black or the Horror make up show?? Thanks again

When you get on 1 fish, the seats will probably be wet, but I think it would be hard to get soaked on it unless you ride it more than once. It's fun, plus there are seats for 3 people.

Jaws is closed, but maybe it will be open when you are going. The shark pops up out of the water a few times, but it's kind of predictable. The boat captain shoots a gun at the end which I believe is pretty loud.

Jimmy Neutron has a stationary bench up front, but I still get nauseous siting there, LOL.

I don't think Earthquake is as intense as twister, but I can't remember how loud it is.

T2 is very loud and intense so I wouldn't recommend it.

We thought the Horror Make Show was hillarious. I had heard that it was extrememly scary for kids, so we didn't try it until last weekend when I thought 5 yr old ds might like it in the spirit of Halloween and he loved it, not scary at all.

Men in Black is not real loud, but there is some spinning, and my ds gets a little scared of the giant alien at the end who looks like he's going to eat you, but he loves it.

Hope this helps a little. Have fun planning!!!

Spiderman is an actual ride, not a simulator.

Play Area in US and IOA. Are there any play areas (or portions there-of) where kids can run around and NOT get wet???? We're going in Dec and who knows how cool/warm it will be. :confused3

NY Street Shows: Blues Brothers and Street Breakz. Worth seeing?

1 Fish 2 Fish: If you follow the instructions of the song can you stay dry???

Mystical Fountain: What happens when you make a wish??

Christmas specials: we'll be there for the Macy's parade and Whoville w/ the grinch. Which park hosts the parade? Is it in the afternoon? Certain viewing areas more adventageous??? Anything else?
Play areas: Dec is still warm,so they will most likely still run all the water effects. The easiest way to stay dry is to avoid the water part. ;)

NY Street Shows: The Blues Brothers show is a fun show and is worth seeing. Street Breakz is fun if you like break dancing.

1 Fish 2 Fish: Follow the rhyme, go against it, it won't matter. It's based on luck more than anything else. :umbrella:

Mystical Fountain: See for yourself. pirate:

Christmas specials: USF has the Macy's parade and it's usually around 5pm.

Horror Make-up show - my dare devil daughter, who was four and who rode everything she was tall enought for last year - and LOVED them - totally FREAKED at the Horror Make-up show! It was the bit when they simulate cutting into the 'guests' arm - just a bit too intense and realistic for her I'm afraid! We had to get up and leave as she was trembling and crying - I felt like the world's worst mother! I'd sen the show before and honestly thought it wouldn't bother her in the least - especailly as she'd already ridden Jaws, Men in Black and BTTF that day! I think it was because it was a REAL person!

Make sure you catch the Animal Planet Show. I am sure your 3 yrold will love this show.

Also make sure she goes on ET, including the entire queue in the forest (don't do Express, unless it is really crowded). Kids love this attraction (as do most adults!).

From what I remember you CAN get wet on the 1 Fish 2 Fish. Part of the song gives you the clues and tells you what to do "2 fish, blue fish up, up, up", etc. LISTEN to the words, but the second half half says pick whatever you like you never know and it sprays randomly. If you have major issues bring a cheap poncho, it's an awesome ride and you don't want to miss it.

Jaws can be very scary, I guess it depends on whether they understand real/imaginary and get scared. I would skip it for a young one.

Have fun!

It doesn't matter if you follow the rhyme or not, you will still get at the very least sprinkled.
