First Trip to The Fort

Enjoying you trip report and pictures. What a shame about all the time it takes to get from place to place. You would think they would try to find a way to make it more convenient for people with ECVs.

One of The great things about The World is the accessibility. They really go out of their way to help. The parks and most of the attractions are pretty easy to maneuver. The busses are good too. The cruisers are older and few in number and are ok if your luck is good! I was just unlucky this trip.

Now that my report is done, I'm going back and reading yours. I adore your hammock! I bet that is no nice and cozy. Your fishing pics are great, are you catching anything? Too bad I missed the start of your report. Had I known, I would have stopped by and said hello! I'm sure I passed your site a few times over as I love to loop the clover loops ( 1600 - 1900). You were close by as the 1500 loop connects with the 1600 loop.

Thanks! I like to put in plenty of Hammock time and fishing time, but I'm having no luck catching. I did see your setup, I showed the picture from your report to L and she said "those are the tents we saw on first day, don't you remember?" I remembered then that we saw them through the woods from the 1600 loop! They looked nice

Thursday we had a Fort day, After we got back to camp the night before we cancelled our ADR and fastpasses for the Magic Kingdom and decided to have a rest day.

Overnight the rains came, and we enjoyed the sound on the roof, then came the DELUGE! The rain slowed early in the morning and I found that we had a true water view campsite

For Lunch we headed over to Trails End, The food was pretty good but our server was Great!
L and I shared a dessert so he brought us both spoons, mine is on the left!

Now you would think that was an unfair advantage for me, but our dessert was served in a Mason Jar, and the big spoon wouldn't fit! Lucky he was standing by with a smaller spoon and a very large grin :) !

After lunch it was rockin' time

The rest of the day was spent relaxing at camp and LOOPING. We saw some nice setups and even a little house

Another great day at the Fort!

Friday was one of those 'what day is it? days'. I had left my camera at the house by mistake and today I left my phone in the camper! Sorry, no pictures

We drove over to the Studios today and saw the remains of the big hat, It is coming down slowly. There seemed to be a lot of people out and about and some very large tour groups.

Castmember joke of the day.......Do you know why Aladdin went to Haunted Mansion? He was looking for A Boo!........:dance3:

We really enjoyed Toy Story Mania and the Muppets, but lunch at MaMa Melrose was meh

Did find a picture of this guy, he needs a haircut

So that is the rain that hubby was talking about coming in later in the week. Yikes!

So you had the not so warm sticky bun sundae too?

I saw that little house. They were on our loop. The family is from FL so don't have to travel that far to pull it. He built it for $2,000 while their house was being built and the whole family, 6 of them lived in it for 4 months.

Yep, it was the sticky bun sundae, it was tasty but like you said, the bun may have been left over from breakfast. Our server was the best tho, He was an older gentleman and had a great sense of humor. We went back today and the crew was younger and acted like they had someplace better to be, it was a whole lot busier today for lunch, the place is packed.

Hey! That little house was on our loop, 1500!. We just got back tonight, but we were only there for 2 nights in a tent. We just missed all of that rain!

Goofy14sure,

So you haven't had much success catching fish? Neither do I - and I've tried it at the Fort. No luck. That's why I like hiking - that's the way I enjoy being outside.

So if the hair is getting a little long, isn't there a barber shop on Main Street USA? And you don't have to get any purple spray paint in your hair...:rolleyes1

I tried to get into some kind of boutique, but they couldn't fit me in:sad1:

Saturday was another beautiful day. We stayed around camp and the Fort this morning and I went over to check out the comfort station. It had the longer range magic band readers like the one at the front gate, so the doors unlocked when you walked up, pretty nice!

This is the reader for the laundry room

Next was a trip down to the canal, there were lots of canoes out today and the campground was packed for the weekend.

After a busy trip to the canal sitting in the sun and not catching fish, some serious hammock time was needed

(I have found these shoes to be very popular among Disboarders!) Also admired the neighbors set up, a nice modified utility trailer and a tent. They had been at the Fort since the first week of January, they were really nice folks

We went over to Trails End for lunch and got a younger server who must of been ready for his break. A few days before we had lunch there and I had a mixed fruit and vegetable salad and an apple barbecued chicken sandwich. On Saturday these items and a grilled chicken dish were not on the menu, so I asked how often they changed the menu and he went off on a diatribe about the menu never changing and how my perception of the menu was wrong and how he could understand how I looked at the menu wrong, and how the menu was arranged to put the higher priced items where your eye would notice them first. I said "well I was just curious" and he went about his business, buy I thought it odd.

After lunch we rode over the Hess Station near the Magic Kingdom for fuel, the station near the Studios doesn't have diesel, but both have near outside world prices on snacks and drinks. We picked up a 12 pack of Cokes and a case of water for around $11.

Next over to the Studios, I stopped at this store to ask about road service, but no one was there, I did write down the number, just in case

After Toy Story Mania and touring the park for a while we headed back to camp for dinner and wonderful evening at the Fort.

Sunday was our last full Fort day and it was another pretty one, we had great weather this trip with only one rainy day. I returned the cable modem to the Meadows (it worked fine and the internet service was good, although the system was busy at certain times and the speed slowed) and returned the golf cart.
We rented onsite because of the convenience, but now I seem to be in the market for a good used one!

I added to my collection of photographs of Disney Survey Markers

put in some hammock time and didn't catch any fish AGAIN

Some new folks came in on the Drivers side campsite and had two young kids. They had the best time climbing this little tree that I have seen two kids have in a long time!

He was very excited that the next day was his 7th Birthday, L asked him what he was doing for his birthday and he excitedly said "I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!",

next it was time to pay off the Squirrels. I had promised them a peanut butter cracker if they would not chew up our camp and it was time to pay up,

They were moving in

another fine day at the Fort

Great trip report!

I'm assuming your comfort station pics are taken from the shared 1500/1600 comfort station? I also noticed that the laundry MB scanner would ding by just walking past it to the ladies restroom. Funny the restrooms were not that sensitive nor where the ones in the 1800 comfort station. I wonder if they just do that for the laundry as one typically has their arms full of dirty clothes or it was just being glitchy and it was on the list to be fixed.

Don't let them fool you, the lunch menu does change! The apple bbq sandwich was not on the menu when we were there two weeks ago. Plus, I noticed at the comfort station in the "resource area" where they post times guide, monthly schedule, etc there was a lunch menu posted with several items listed that were in fact not on the lunch menu given at our table.

Good change was made to the dinner buffet, I like how they added strawberry shortcake :)

Love the hammock pics!

I think I see a squirrel with some duct tape still attached (hehe)!

This was the one on the side of the road between 1600 and 1800, the restroom doors were not locked, It looked like they were doing maintenance. I liked it unlocking when I walked up tho, it would be convenient with a load of laundry

Goodness, the hat STILL isn't down at DHS yet? :crazy2:

Great pictures and yes, there comes a time you have to pay the piper (the head squirrel).

Monday was last checkout day at the Fort. We broke down camp and packed up, and hit the road around 9 with plans to overnight north of Valdosta to better split the drive time home.

I always take a picture of the exit sign, this one didn't work out too well, but I'm posting it anyway!

It's where we start planning our next trip to the World!

We stopped at a small campground in Tifton called the Pines, The folks were real nice and came out to meet us and took us to a site. The site was gravel and it had been raining so it was a little muddy, but it was level enough. The only issue was that the sewer hookup was on the high side of the site and our camper is older and has 'low plumbing'. but we weren't going to hook up the sewer so it was not an issue, They had a pretty good cable service and free wifi, but it was a little spotty, For $25 it was a decent stop.

Here is our campsite

Another nice day, but its not the Fort.

Tuesday we pulled out early and finished the trip home, It was a great trip! We loved camping at Fort Wilderness and plan to go back this fall if not earlier.
