First Trip to DL - solo (COMPLETE) new link p.43

This could be one of my favorite updates. :goodvibes The spot where you got caught in Fantasyland is one of my favorite areas. There is nothing like the lamp posts turning on when it hits dusk. :cloud9:

The lamps and lights in the trees make things so magical :lovestruc thank you :)

I'm sorry your fish n chips from the Stage Door were dry. We really like those and their chicken strips too.

I was super disappointed, I hate complaining about food so usually don't say anything unless it's inedible. Lots of people were getting the chicken strips and funnel cakes. I really wanted to try the Golden Horseshoe, the desserts there sounded delicious!

:thumbsup2 Your meet looks great. We had a nice meal at Ralph Brennen's a few years ago. Looks like we may need to go back. Love any sort of artichoke.

I'm a huge artichoke fan too, just love them! Have you had them on pizza? So yummy!

Great update Pam! Thank you. Loving Toon town how very cute! Sounds like you have hit the wall by this stage I know that feeling. It's good to spend some time in your lovely hotel room watching Once Upon a time. That's part of the vacation too! I like to think of the resorts as extensions of the parks so when I get tired I don't feel frustrated to rest in the room!

Alicia and her DH sound nice. So it's her we need to be thankful to for these wonderful trip reports!

Omg fried green tomato sandwich how much would I love to try that! We don't do fried green toms here in the UK. First I heard of it was watching that lovely movie. I thought they looked divine but never tried one.

The parade was wonderful what amazing picture you got! That Roger rabbit ride looks great fun. I am not a big fan of Splash mountain so ohhh sorry to hear you nearly fell. I hate getting wet I only go on for Jo!

Indy is a great ride I loved that! I rode that a few times then we had no time for anything else lol.

Thanks again for great update! Sorry your food was bad. You sound almost British there. We are too afraid to ever complain about anything.

This sounds like another fantastic day. I love the Toontown photos. I actually think the line is the best part of the Roger Rabbit ride. I was absolutely blown away by all the details. I am sorry that some of the food was less than magical.

Thank you :) I just loved ToonTown, it was so well done and so cute!

I had definitely lost my steam. That's one of the reasons I love DVC, the rooms are so nice and comfortable.

They are, and super fun! Yep, she was the catalyst for me getting involved on the DIS :)

That sandwich was so delicious! Definitely worthy of trying. I've had them a few times before and it really can go wrong if the tomato is too fried and gets mushy. This one was perfect.

The parade was cute, I'm not a big parade person but this one looked really nice. The Roger Rabbit ride was great!

It's funny, I absolutely adore the water parks but at the dry parks I don't like getting wet  but I really like the rest of Splash Mountain so I suffer through the wet part.

Indy is a great ride I loved that! I rode that a few times then we had no time for anything else lol.

It was funny, I got myself pretty scared in there being on the edge of the vehicle. I watch too many crime shows...

I really should have said something, I'm sure they would have given me something else. I was a waitress for a few years and it was such a pain when customers wanted a replacement, credit/rebill stress. I hate to do that to someone else unless it's absolutely inedible.

That queue is so well done. I couldn't believe how neat it was.

Pam I was wondering thinking about The Post Box's you took a picture of and you saying they each make noises. How cute! Do you recall what kind of noises they made? Sad I know but I love to picture and imagine it all the sights and the sounds!

Not sad at all, I love those details! It was pretty much all I could do to get a picture without any kids in it, let alone play with them myself. But I did overhear some of them while waiting, they were cute phrases in the voice of the character on the mail box. I can't for the life of me remember the specifics though.

oh how sweet re little voices the sort of detail so easy to miss as people race from one headliner to another I am glad you had time to absorb such wonders! I recall reading that at WDW in 3D muppets where there is a sign as you go in that says 'gone out key under mat' or somethjng like that if you look under the mat there is a key there! I am going to look next time!

There is indeed a key, I have a picture :) I read a book a few years ago that had all the little extra magical touches. Sadly a few are gone as they renovate.

oh how wonderful you have a picture! Oh no re renovate! That's not progress!

Jo and I are truly addicted now to Once upon a time!

Aw yay! This update made me smile :) DH and I had soooo much fun hanging out with you. I really wish I could have toured the parks with you. Next time you come out to DL, I already told DH what I wanted to do. He'll go golfing (as we know, he's not too much of a fan of DL :sad2:) and I'll go to the parks/DTD with you! He was all for that idea. And hopefully Alison would be able to join.

I had no idea that you were that shy. Could have totally fooled me the way you love to talk! :rotfl2::thumbsup2 Thanks again for taking time out of your day to spend time with us:goodvibes

We never spend much time in Toon Town, but I have a feeling we will shortly as DS gets older. I laughed when I read, "If they can't fix it, we won't" :rotfl:

I think the Roger Rabbit queue, is quite possibly one of the best queues in all of DLR. It's a very long queue, but it's perfect.

I've heard good things about Maurice's cart. Is that where they also have loaded baked potatoes? And that twist looks delicious.

Too bad about the fish and chips. There was only one time that I didn't enjoy my fish there and it was because they were way too greasy.

Would that be The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World by any chance? Susan and her husband Simon are friends of ours. There is a new Hidden Magic book coming out later this month.

That's the book! I will definitely buy the new one, I loved finding all the 'hidden' things. How cool you are friends with the author :)

They are the sweetest people you can imagine. I can't wait to meet up with them again in Orlando.

Aw yay! This update made me smile :) DH and I had soooo much fun hanging out with you.

Thank you so much for coming down, I had such fun too! I didn't want the time to end :) I don't know if it's feasible or if you guys will be going on one for a while but I think it would be super fun to go on a cruise together some day.

I really wish I could have toured the parks with you. Next time you come out to DL, I already told DH what I wanted to do. That would be fabulous! No worries about this time, I totally understood.

I had no idea that you were that shy. Could have totally fooled me the way you love to talk! :rotfl2::thumbsup2 Thanks again for taking time out of your day to spend time with us:goodvibes

 I can certainly be a chatter but am a pretty shy person most of the time. I felt totally comfortable with you guys, like we'd been friends forever. :goodvibes Thank YOU for driving down! I wish you would have let me meet you half way :)

I love that cartoon look, I think it's so cool. I laughed out loud when I saw that, it hit my funny bone.

I think the Roger Rabbit queue, is quite possibly one of the best queues in all of DLR. It's a very long queue, but it's perfect.

It was a long queue, felt like it went on forever and that I was actually somewhere dark and scary. It was great!

I've heard good things about Maurice's cart. Is that where they also have loaded baked potatoes? And that twist looks delicious.

I didn't see any baked potatoes, the only place I saw those were near the Haunted Mansion near the river. That twist was so tasty! There were also some dessert twists I would have loved to try. More things for next time.

Too bad about the fish and chips. There was only one time that I didn't enjoy my fish there and it was because they were way too greasy.

I definitely think they had to have been sitting under the heat lamps for a while.

I'm guessing you met them on one of your trips?

Actually no. Simon is originally from the UK and is the editor of a cruise magazine. We met them for the first time in person at a cruise show in London. We had known them beforehand in 2D as they are moderators on a UK based Florida forum that we both are active on.

That's wild! I'm excited to read the next book :)
