We are a family of 5 hence, thinking about cabins as a way of feeling part of the magic.
Thoughts are visiting in October :goodvibes
Would appreciate any advice, especially regarding going to Fort Wilderness at this time of year :thumbsup2

I don't know about going in Oct. But we are a family of 5, and we stayed in the cabins in early Feb. We loved them! They are a bit more expensive than other resorts but well worth it. Not having someone on the wall next to you was nice. I didn't have to worry if the kids were too loud.

I had heard here that the bussing system was not so good, but we had no problems with it.

We stayed in the 2600 loop. Michelle

We put the kids in the bedroom and slept in the murphy bed which was very comfortable. We loved the cabins. The only drawback was that the pools really wern't themed, just plain. The internal bus system worded just fine, no need to get a golf cart. Nancy

We were there this past Christmas and won't stay anywhere else now!! We LOVED them to say the least. The bus system was great there, we did have a golf cart (really helped) and no problems at all. It was soo nice having the extra room and quietness at night;)

We were thinking of doing the cabins at Christmas time, but were wondering how it will work out without a lobby< I know they have a lobby so to speak but you know what I mean, like a lobby to walk into if you need anything. Anyways, I was also wondering if you don't have a cart is it a long walk from the busses? And how much is a cart, do we have to reserve one? Thank you everyone.

Thanks for the comments, looks like we'll be given FW a bit more thought as it sounds perfect for us :)

No you do not need a cart, the bus stops are almost right at the end of the cabin loops. The buses will take you to the outpost where the front desk is or you can just call them if you need anything and someone will bring it out to you.If you want to rent a cart they are $45 a day from 1pm to 11am the next day.You should call to reserve one if you want. The phone number is(407)824-2742. The buses run every 10 minuets so you really do not need a cart. They connect with the park buses(Epcot,MGM,Animal Kingdom,Down town Disney or the boat to Magic Kingdom) at the Outpost or the Settlement. There is a Trails End restaurant,Hoop De Do show and Crockett's Tavern and the Trading Post at The Settlement as well as the beach and play areas. We have never needed a cart because we found the buses to be great . :cheer2:

That is good to know. Maybe one day we will get one, but it is sooooooooooooo expensive that I don't think we will have hone the entire stay. But it would be nice to have one for a night especially during Christmas I heard that the sites were really decorated nicely.
