Myself, hubby and 5 children are all meeting in California in August to do Disneyland and California Adventure. In addition we are going to Universal studios as well. We have a 2 day hopper pass for the Disney parks so we can go back and forth if we want to. Can you give me a basic strategy for getting fastpasses (like what order and such)? We have a variety of interests, but think we want to do as much as possible.

Having never been I feel a little lost and can't picture myself entering and running through the park willy nilly getting fast passes since I don't know where anything is.

We're staying at Grand Californian Villas so can enter the park early and go back to the room if necessary.

It's a bit hard to do that since you will have a limit on passes to at most every two hours.

At DCA I'd say go through the GC entrance and the first thing would be to get Radiator Springs Racers passes. Then Soarin' and then Frozen. Maybe Soarin' first if that's what you'd prefer to see.

first off if you have an early entry day for DCA then just first send a Runner to rsr while you get in line for soarin then ride TSMM then use you RSR FP and everything else should only have pretty doable lines.

This isnt much of a plan but we always do the ones that end up have huge waits first and double dipping with unconnected fp where we can and we try to have best plan for starting in and staying in a particular land so Im not running myself ragged.

If you start right (go into tomorrowland first) i would get a star tours FP and then a buzz fast pass since they are side by side and buzz is unconnected and then I would ride space and the matterhorn and the do my fast passes.

If your starting center (started in Fantasyland) I would get inline for peter while I send a FP runner to get FP for Buzz and whatever else sounded good. then after riding peter I would ride alice and Mr.Toad (a personal favorite) and then do the buzz and the other fast pass.

if starting left I would grab an indy FP then ride pirates and HM then use my FP then send a runner to get FP for splash (which is dead in the morning but crazy once it gets hot) then get in line to do BTMRR and then Pooh then do splash.

if you don't mind zigzagging all over the park, which wastes some time for sure but works well for short trips when you don't want to miss the highlights and only have a limited amount of time, then I would go first to Peter while a runner gets a FP for Space and buzz then do the line for the start tours and matterhorn then do space then send your runner get a FP for Indy (by this time your return to Indy might be a bit late) and ride Buzz then ride pirates , then ride BTMRR the if its FP time go to INDY, if not got to the Jungle Cruise.
