We are planning on going to Disneyland, CA Aug 15-19. I got so much useful info from this group but still have a few question. Firstly I had to convince my husband to take this trip so I had to fib and say I could do this under $1000 (hotel and park only), we are a family of four! I would like to stay walking distance and go to the parks for at least 3 days. I could add a little more money hidden money but prefer not to. How do I do this? I really want to go.

Desert Inn & Suites (right across the street) is $99 a night for your dates. The 5 day ticket for 3 day price is $179 per adult and $149 per child. Total (without tax on the hotel) is around $1050. :)

ETA: that total is based on 2 adult and 2 child tickets.

Do you have credit card that offers reward points? We were able to get our hotel room (at the DLH) for free with our reward points and also purchase Disney gifts cards with our rewards to pay for our park tickets. Our airline tickets were half price with some points we had left over on a card we don't even use anymore.

We charge everything to our visa and pay it off monthly, so it's a great deal!:thumbsup2

We have always had pretty good luck with using priceline and naming our price. We have always gotten farely good deals, especially if you can handle a little bit of a walk and staying at a hotel a little further away.

Anaheim Plaza Hotel is $69-$89 (for a room w/ 2 beds) for the dates of your trip :) It's not right across the street from the Park, but it is about a 10 minute walk there. I've stayed there numeraous times, and while it's nothing fancy, in my experience the rooms have been clean, comfortable, and spacious. Also, they have an Olympic-sized pool and a hot tub.

Do you have AAA? If so, there are some HUGE discounts on many hotels near the Park, if you book your room through their website.

Have fun on your trip!

Check Getawaytoday.com or Costco Travel for great rates. We have 4 kids (2 are free though) in a Kids Suite at Portofino Inn & Suites for 6 days for $1200 so it may be doable, especially with the 5 for 3 promo.

Another Priceline name-your-own-price recommendation. You don't get to actually choose the specific hotel but you do choose the star level and area. There are some amazing deals to be had this way.

thanks everyone, I have my husband convinced. Now I have to find a decent place, I like all of your recommendation. I am still kinda confused but definitely want to stay walking distance. I'll keep you updated.
