So this is it…time to rip off the band aid…after so long it feels kind of surreal. It’s actually our anniversary this week, and this was my husband’s gift to me. Three nights on my own in an ocean view villa at Aulani….ALL BY MYSELF. Kids are too young to be vaxed, and we don’t have childcare, and he thought that I REALLY needed to get away. 😂😂 Apparently I have been complaining about the lack of travel ALOT!!

Not sure how I feel about going by myself. I think it will be pretty lonely without him and the kids. But I have to say, its alot less stressful planing out the testing, etc for one person vs five, and if something does go wrong and we have to cancel at the last minute due to a testing issue, the financial loss is minimal (flight was booked on a travel credit that we will just get back if we have to cancel, and we will only lose the first night of points in a studio). I like to think of it as a trial run for (hopefully) bringing the whole family for Christmas.

Departure COVID test booked for Wednesday morning, fly out Friday night, return COVID test booked at the closest CVS to Aulani for Saturday morning, returning Monday night on the red eye. Three full (glorious!) days in Ko Olina! 🌈🌴🍷

Wish me luck!! 😬

Enjoy! I understand your reasoning about planning for one versus five.

Yep...I’m currently in Mexico. It’s been 22 months since I’ve been away on a vacation and I work in healthcare which has always been stressful but it’s on a whole new level now. DH encouraged me to do his. He said I needed it....guess I’ve been unpleasant LOL. Now that I’m here, I’m happy I’ve done it. It’s not that hard to keep away from people and dining was my big concern but the resort handles it very well. I was super super stressed before starting this trip (worries about crowds and being on a plane) but it has been very good and so far only once I felt like I was in a risky situation. That was due to other people squeezing themselves in a space they didn’t belong (they were so close they were touching my back) and that would have peeved me even before Covid. Kind of like when you camp out for an hour or more for the parade and some family forces you to give them space 10 minutes before the start. We just immediately got up and left.
