Just had to post that we are about to embark on our first trip "home" since becoming DVC members this past December! We decided on a spur of the moment (last night to be exact!!) trip over our school vacation next week. Made my first ever call to MS this morning at 9:05 and they couldn't have been more helpful! The only availability for all 5 nights was at OKW but since this trip is strictly for R&R, not commando park touring, it is perfect!

I have never been to OKW before....does anyone have suggestions for building location? We have 3 kids: 14, 8, 11, and although I don't want to be right on top of the center of activity, I don't want to be waaaaaaaay far away. Won't have a car, so proximity to pools/bus stops would be important.

I have NEVER booked a WDW trip at this late date and would never have been able to if not for DVC. I am LOVING IT! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Enjoy your trip! A full 5 days at WDW at the spur of the moment, that's wonderful, wish we could do it!

Just got back from our first trip home and had a marvelous time! Hope you will too! :wave2:

Now, see how great it is to have a "home" in Florida? ;) Gee, does this winter having anything to do with a desire for some warmth...

Every section has a bus stop and a pool so there isn't a big worry about being too far away. There are very few units that are a "little futher" from the stop but they are generally rewarded with better golf course views. You can also use the buses to get around by getting on any bus (double-check with the driver) and saving a few steps. However, I have never had much of a problem walking around the resort -- nothing is much more than a 10 minute walk. Relax, have a great time and don't forget to let us know how it went!

Have a great trip! We will be thinking of you while we are freezing back in NH!;) Seriously, have a wonderful time!:)

MJTinNH.....this frigid cold has everything to do with our decision to go away last minute. I just can't take any more turtlenecks, sweaters, hats, coats and mittens!! Even if the temps in WDW next week are only in the low 70's, that's a far cry from this morning's 4 degrees!

Take whatever room they offer. If they give you a choice, ask for their advice and they'll usually steer you to something nice. And enjoy!

Absolutely! We took the only room they had left in late Jan, early Feb and I swear it was the best room on property, if not in all of WDW. We could watch the fireworks over MGM and looked out over the pool and Swan and Dolphin and had a huge balcony. If you are flexible, you'll get a great room. And all the resorts are really nice. It'll be fun to try them all out over the years.

I absolutely understand! Even with less snow, IMHO this has been the worst winter in a long time. Maybe because of sub-zero temps and cloudy days.

Please post a report when you return. It helps to brighten up an otherwise long cold season! Have a great time!:sunny:
