First trip for our family & a ?

Hi everyone! I'm new - my name is Erin and my family is going on our first trip together to WDW on Nov 25th. My son is 22 months and loves Playhouse Disney and most of the Disney characters. What is a must-see or must do for that age group??? Any advice you can give on this is much appreciated (advice on anything else disney related too!)

The characters! If he/ she may be intimidated, get a little warmed up at chuck e cheese's first

There is a fun Playhouse Disney "Live" show at the Disney Studio's MGM park. My kids really enjoyed it. They get up and dance and have confetti drop from the ceiling at the end.

There is also a "new" (since we've been there) character meal at Hollywood and Vine that features the Playhouse Disney characters.

I found counter service and buffets to be the easiest meal options at that age. It kept me in control of how fast or slow the meal went.

I think being flexible with your plans is the key to a successful trip. Take breaks when you need to take breaks. Remember you can have a completely wonderful and memorable trip without ever setting foot in a ride. I would start with some of the outdoor rides to see how your DS likes them. Then read up on all of the rides because some of the rides you wouldn't expect can be scary for young children.

At MGM they also have JoJo and Golith sign autographs. They gave our kids a bunch of attention and goofed around w/ them for awhile.

I went one year with the family I nanny for and the younger son at the time was 3 and scared of Chuck E. Cheese even though I also work there and we would go every week for lunch. But when we got to Disney he wasnt scared of Mickey or any of them for some reason. Once we got home he started to like Chuck E. better since i told he was friends with Mickey and everybody. Heres a little funny story we were at Chef Mickeys having dinner and I mentioned that Chuck E Cheese was friends with MIckey and everybody and he dove under the table of the mention of the other mouses name.. Once we got home he was good with CEC. But if u have been to Chuck E. Cheeses and ur kid isnt keen on seeing such a big mouse u might have a problem. I have seen to many parents push their kids on CEC when they are there..

we will be there Nov 19-Dec 1, so our pixie dust may cross paths!
Anyway, having survived many trips with toddlers, some of our favorite attractions -
time to play in parks - toontown play area,Splash Mountain play area, new pooh play area in MK, the fountains in Epcot, all kinds of places can be made into toddler play areas while the parents parent swap.
They liked tom sawyer island, small world and the carousel
They also loved playhouse disney, but liked things like Indiana Jones suprisingly (all of the booms and bangs for my boys now 11,9 and 7) Don't discount many rides/ shows because you think they are too loud or intense - the muppet show at MGM is a big favorite and you can go right out of there into the Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area. Remember all of these shows have exits so try to sit near an end and then you can sneak out if he gets scared (like has happened numerous times to us in it's tough to be a bug)
Also, another good tip is during the day when it is warm, ice to suck on really helps keep them busy and cool and can be gotten at any counter service restaurant. Just ask for a cup of ice.
