Hey everyone,

Im going to DLR nov 11-13...basically have saturday and part of sunday to run around...im going on business to Dallas, and decided to fly over to Disneyland....most people think its weird since they aren't exactly close...but im from Boston and don't see myself getting this close to disneyland anytime soon.

i had a couple of questions i was hoping maybe you guys could answer for me?
I preface this with, i am a walking WDW tour guide..i know the parks and hotels like the back of my hand and have read every book, gone on tours and all that jazz...but i am CLUELESS on disneyland.

1) are there still rides with single rider lines? I know i read a thread that TSMM doesn't have single rider-or fast pass for that matter ( at WDW it is insane even with FP, i can't imagine none!)

2) i want so badly to see WOC, but i prefer the later showing (if there are 2...park hours and times arent listed yet but according to a certain website it will be long hours bc of the vetrans day) how do i know when to get a fast pass for it?

i have such a short amount of time in the parks, but with it being just me im hopeful to have a good amount done ( thoughts are the park is open 7am-midnight -including the MM, or EMH as i know them haha)

I am staying at the Disneyland hotel, so I plan on just walking over? I know others have said its the furthest walk, but honestly I got some sort of fall savings package on a deluxe room (from what i gather its just a nice view?) and im more comfortable staying at a Disney hotel on property then not, even though i know there are some closer....mindset i guess....

anyways, long post for just a couple of questions, but as i said i am clueless, so any insight and help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!

Single rider lines are currently on Indiana Jones and Splash Mountain in Disneyland, and Soarin' over California, California Screamin and (I think) Goofy's Sky School at DCA. Soarin' is basically identical to the one at Epcot though (although the lines are usually a lot shorter,) so if you've been on it enough times you might be inclined to pass. TSMM is also virtually identical to the DHS version, but doesn't have the same cool theming in the queue. The best strategy is to try to get there early.

On World of Color, even on a couple of busy weekends I found that it wasn't too difficult to get Fastpasses, although there's no good way to tell exactly when the later show is going to be available. I would try sometime in the early afternoon.

From Disneyland Hotel the walk to the gates isn't too bad, but the monorail is also an option to save a bit of walking. I'm not sure when it starts running in the morning though.

Sounds perfectly logical to me.

Do some research (starting with the links below) & you'll come back with lots of good questions. :hippie:

Don't sweat the "no FP for TSMM"....it's not a big deal. 25-35 min. wait. each day from 11am - 3pm.

Yes....lots of single rider lines. Know them....use them. :)

2) i want so badly to see WOC, but i prefer the later showing (if there are 2...park hours and times arent listed yet but according to a certain website it will be long hours bc of the vetrans day) how do i know when to get a fast pass for it?

Pick it up when you "hop" over to DCA (after spending 2.5-3 hours at DL). Yes....you should HOP each day. :thumbsup2

Read the links below....including my one day report in my signature. You'll have alot of info after a little research.

Easy 1/2 mile stroll thru a beautiful outdoor mall. Also....know the GCH side entrance. Personally, i'd NEVER use the monorail in the morning.

If you are a WDW veteran, then here is your primer.....a must read!!:

Also, lots of good info for the WDW vet in Mary Jo's tip thread:

Regarding touring DLR....the two most important things to remember is to:

- Get to the parks BEFORE opening &
- Know how to use FP at DLR.

30 minutes early is typically when security opens (so getting in THIS line 5-15 minutes prior to security opening is best). Being one of the first 8-10 families at Security will get you up front (probably first thru third family) in line at the DL turnstile. Being very near the front of the turnstiles is important (to me) so that:

- If it's an MM day, I'm first on Peter Pan...if i'm first on PP then the rest of MM flows easily. & even if i'm not doing PP, i would want to be first on Matterhorn...or SM (or whatever) during MM.

- Even on a non MM day, I want to be one of the first few the turnstiles so i can get to the ST, SM (or Indy) FP machine first (to start the FP collection clock). Then we'll hop on our first ride a minute or two later & begin the important first 90-120 min. of the day at DLR.

Do some research & post back. Have a great time planning a visit to Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

:)

Thank yu guys! I had read the dlr for wdw vets thread and it was super helpful....I plan on researching like crazy, I am so excited to go! I kno WOC fast passes are hit or miss on times, I originally planned to hop over there when dca opened, but that looks like it will get me the 1st show, so I need to adjust that. Since it's just me getting to the park before MM won't be an issue...again I'm used to wdw where I would need to be at the gate atleast an he before opening. Im sure when it gets closer and I'm researched out I'll have questions. I just searched a bit and saw lots of family tips, so I was hoping some solo tips would be around :)

I hope you have a great time! Be sure to update us when you get back. Don't miss a waffle cone ice cream cone from Gibson Girl ice cream shop on mainstreet. The lines are hellacious, but they move surprisingly fast.

Happy trails!:goodvibes
