First trip as DVC member end of Jan 2006 report ***

I just wanted to add to this by saying that since joining DVC, my kids (11, 14, 16 and 18) missed the food court, too. But this past summer we stayed in two adjoining rooms at ASSp for a week (we travelled with 2 other families) before checking into OKW for 5 nights and my kids finally realized how great it was to be "home"!

Also, we've never used the bell hops. My DH wouldn't pay for that if we can manage ourselves. And, believe me, with 6 of us driving from MD with luggage and food, we bring a LOT!

DVC for the most part for people that extra money to burn. The problem is for a few years it has been sold as some kind of savings, hardly the case. Like others have said, if it bothers you to tip because it takes money away from buying your daughter a doll then I really think you might reconsider you DVC membership. I would say this same thing to many others on this site also but I usually just pass.

Toesmom...Your review seemed a little down and you seem disappointed. Thats too bad. I know a lot of people have high expectations of Disney.

My initial reaction is that maybe DVC isn't what you expected. Some of the small things that bothered you may bother you at other resorts too. but...next time you may have a fantastic time.

one thing I do want to say as nicely as I can....is that I am surprised that you didn't know some of these things before you purchased. Like the housekeeping, food options, resort layouts, food courts, etc. I hope that others new/prospective DVC'ers check out all those small details before they go.
DVC isn't for everyone. and that is not a bad thing !! ;)

ps...the tip things keeps sticking me...we tip at every level of resort, I don't think that is a "deluxe" thing. You can use bell services or take your own, you shouldn't feel pressured. :)

I have to disagree a bit with the money to burn and savings statement.
I think its more geared towards people who were already spending $1500++ a year on frequent trips, families with 5+ members, those who go EVERY year, etc.
We spent $2000+ every year for 8 years and finally got smart !!! but we were staying at moderates and mostly deluxes. So the costs were pretty much the same.
just my 2 cents. :)
