I am a long time WDW tripper. My family goes yearly and have more than ten trips over the past ten years. This time it's my trip:banana:
I will be running in the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon (ran the WDW 1/2 in February) I will be there August 31-September 3, staying at the Fairfield at the maingate. I don't plan to rent a car. Taking a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and back. I will not be taking in any of the parks...I know, I know...but taking my time to enjoy all the race fun and DTD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Am I crazy?? Cause I am sooooo excited!!!:goodvibes

Why don't you just stick to racing at WDW, if you don't want to come for DLR?

So you are spending 4 days in Anaheim, you are running for a couple hours, spending a couple hours in DTD, and not entering the parks. You have your hotel and transportation already figured out. I am not understanding what you are asking for help with.

ok...well, I feel slapped down. I didn't mean to offend anyone by not going to the parks this trip. I want to do the parks but just don't have the funds. And why I'm doing it solo. This race is part of the Coast to Coast challange so I really want to do it. Is that a bad thing?

Are there any great places to eat that I just shouldn't miss in DTD? I have also thought about renting a car for one day and drive over to Huntington Beach on Saturday. Any places to recommend over there?

I have read many trip reports and posts all over these boards. I have found everyone to seem so nice and helpful...hoping I would find that as well.

If you haven't thought of it, you might want to check out the restaurants in the DLR hotels since they are right in DTD. I don't know your price range but the "counter service" restaurants at the Grand Californian (Whitewater Snacks) or Disneyland Hotel (Tangaroa Terrace) are good (for counter service type). If you are OK with spending more than Storyteller's at GCH or Steakhouse 55 at DLH are good. Both hotels are fun to look at.

Otherwise, we were a little underwhelmed by the food in DTD. IMO, Catal's is the best. But that is a matter of taste.

Hope you have a wonderful 1/2 marathon!
